Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

EMERSON, GA – The 2025 Prep Baseball Future Games were held July 22-27 at the premier LakePoint Sports Complex, attracting over 400 college coaches from around the country to scout the nation’s top uncommitted talent in the 2026-2029 classes.

Prospects from Alabama rose to the occasion, putting together an impressive performance during both the workout showcase and three days of high-level competition.

In this piece, we take a closer look at some of the top performances from Alabama middle infielders who stood out against the elite-level competition. Continue to check back over the course of the next few days, as we dive into each position and their respective Alabama standouts from the event.

Future Games: Class of 2027

+ SS Rocco Maniscalco (Oxford, 2026) looked the part of one of the top prospects in the country during the event and continues to separate himself from his peers. A 6-foot-2, 190-pound athlete, Maniscalco has one of the best swings in his class and pairs it with an advanced, polished approach from both sides of the plate. He oozes confidence in the box and expects success in each at-bat. Showing a selective approach with quality swing decisions, the top-ranked prospect has a controlled load with good timing and works the barrel on-plane early in the zone. There's true all-fields power in the swing and should continue to tap into more. Silky-smooth actions at SS with rangy, athletic actions and advanced glove-to-hand skills. Makes the difficult plays look routine and possesses all the tools you're looking at for a next-level impact player. Different.

+ SS/RHP Paul Barnett (Mountain Brook, 2027) continues to help lead a quality crop of 2027 infielders in Alabama and showcased quality two-way traits during the event. A lean 6-foot-3, 175-pound build with limitless projection, Barnett continued to find a way to make an impact against some of the best in his class, as he recorded multiple hits in gameplay, highlighted by an opposite-field HR. Easy mover through impact with premium athleticism. Massive power upside with ability to flick in a handsy right-handed swing. Also worked up to 93 mph on the mound in a two-inning stint, ranging mostly 88-91 mph and primarily working off the FB. Flashed an 80 mph SL with good bite and a diving 82-84 mph CH. OTT slot and works down the mound aggresively.

+ INF JB Upton (Auburn, 2027) had a quality showing competing against some of the best in his class and showcased plenty of traits that should attract college recruiters in the weeks to come. A 5-foot-11, 184-pounder who has strength with athleticism and twitch in the frame, Upton continously took quality at-bats from the left side of the plate and recorded multiple hits against upper-80s velocity. The operation is simple using a short stride with minimal wasted movement in the load, which helps fire a short, direct barrel to the point of contact. He leverages well in the swing and creates pop using an upward path with the barrel. Gets extended well in the swing. Has accuracy to the barrel with a back-side gap approach. Possesses positional versatility being able to play numerous positions on the diamond.

Senior Future Games: Class of 2026

+ INF Asher Doepel (Hartselle, 2026) emerged as arguably the biggest winner from Team South during the event. Though his 5-foot-7, 150-pound frame may not immediately stand out, Doepel has that undeniable “it” factor and just consistently barrels up the baseball, regardless of the competition. The Class 6A State Championship Series MVP this past spring, the rising senior has continued to excel in all areas of the game and should be a top target for college recruiters as the summer comes to a close. Hits from an upright position while using a simple load to consistently be on-time with each swing. Barrels works level through contact with an exceptional feel for the barrel in a current line-drive approach. As consistent as they come in-game with barrels in all of his swings, going 3-for-6 with a single, double, triple, and a pair of lineouts. A player who will help your team win baseball games.

+ SS/RHP Ford Traweek (Tuscaloosa County, 2026) is another uncommitted 2026 prospect who is coming off a big spring where he helped lead his team to a state title in 2025. Going up against other top uncommitted talent across the country, Traweek saved his best for last, blasting a game-tying HR down the LF line in the final game of the event. A 6-foot, 171-pounder, Traweek is a multi-sport athlete who doubles as a talented PG on the hardwood. At the plate, the right-hander separates well in the load and works the barrel on a mostly level path through contact. The approach is more line-drive currently with the ability to work to both gaps with frequent hard contact. Loose, whippy barrel. Arguably one of the best defenders in his class, where he shows rangy, athletic actions with quality glove skills and arm strength to pair.

Junior Future Games: Class of 2029-2030

+ SS Bryant Wisdom (Chelsea, 2029) has already begin building an impressive track record over the past year, which includes starting at second base as an eighth-grader for the Class 6A runner-up. Showing the ability to compete against high-level competition, the 6-foot, 174-pounder didn't skip a beat this past week and looked the part of one of the top players in the class. A projectable, athletic frame, Wisdom is super-advanced offensively and showcases a true, polished all-fields approach that consistently works to the back-side, while showing some pull-side pop. Rhythmic operation and an easy mover through impact, the right-hander has a loose, level swing that does a great job of letting the ball travel deep in the zone. Big-time upside to dream on and should keep tapping into more power as he continues to develop.

+ SS/RHP Tucker Richardson (Faith Academy, 2030) looked more than comfortable playing up against some of the top 2029 competition across the country as a rising eighth-grader. Already starting to build his case as one of the top 2030's in the country, Richardson shined in all facets of the game for Team Alabama and arguably had the biggest swing of the week on a no-doubt pull-side HR. The right-handed swing shows impressive intent to do damage while moving athletically through impact and keep the barrel on-plane throughout the swing. Standout defensive ability at SS with clean actions and a strong arm up to 88 mph across to pair. Also hopped on the mound and ranged 83-86 mph with quality feel for a late-biting CB in the low-70s. Athletic delivery with competitive traits. Going to be a fun one to follow for the coming years.

+ SS Max Boulo (St. Paul's Episcopal, 2029) is another highly-projectable, athletic infielder in the 2029 class who continues to build a strong track record against some quality competition. An impressive 6-foot-2, 162-pound build with massive projection and athleticism, Boulo has a chance to grow into one of the top prospects in this class when it's all said and done. Still tons of development to happen, but the right-handed swing shows a knack for the finding the barrel using a simple, repetable operation. Weight stays on the back-side well during the swing while using a short, quick stride and upward path through contact. Talented defender who should stick on the left side with athletic actions to pair.

+ SS/RHP John Gregory (Mountain Brook, 2029) is another talented shortstop to add to a stacked group of 2029's in Alabama. Measuring in at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, Gregory pairs advanced skills with a lean, projectable build that has plenty of room for physical maturation and added strength down the road. While he didn't have much to show for in the box score, it's easy to see the talents for the rising freshman and showcased them in a quality workout before gameplay. The load is simple in the operation and works the barrel on an upward path showing some present strength and impact ability at a young age. Has present bat speed and stays well-connected. Flashed the leather at SS in-game, as well.

+ INF Evan Hawarah (St. Paul's Episcopal, 2029) was a flat gamer for Team Alabama and delivered in mutliple clutch situations at the plate. While still plenty of physical maturation and development to come, Hawarah showcases a quick, clean left-handed stroke that possesses an excellent feel for the sweet spot. A true all-fields hitter, the rising freshman stays short throughout the swing and flashes an impressive feel to hit for his age.

+ SS Easten Strickland (Hope Christian Academy, 2029) showed off his silky smooth left-handed swing throughout the event for Team Southeast. A lean, projectable 5-foot-9, 131-pounder, Strickland has an advanced approach for a hitter of his age and pairs it with an accurate barrel that stays on-plane throughout the swing. Showcasing a line-drive approach with a feel to hit to all fields, the left-hander took quality at-bats throughout the event and showed the ability to battle and simplifiy the approach with two strikes. Another talented infielder in the 2029 class to follow.
