EMERSON, GA – The 2025 Prep Baseball Future Games were held July 22-27 at the premier LakePoint Sports Complex, attracting over 400 college coaches from around the country to scout the nation’s top uncommitted talent in the 2026-2029 classes.

Prospects from Mississippi rose to the occasion, putting together an impressive performance during both the workout showcase and three days of high-level competition.

In this piece, we take a closer look at some of the top performances from Mississippi PO's who stood out against the elite-level competition.

MISSISSIPPI QUICK HITS: PITCHER-ONLY'S

Rece Atkinson RHP / 3B / Kosciusko Senior High School, MS / 2027

Rece has continued his steady progression over the past few years and it culminated in an outstanding performance at the Future Games. The 6-3, 190 pound right hander from Kosciusko was dominant over his 2 innings of work versus Louisiana, using primarily a running fastball that worked 89-90 mph (T-91) and a breaking ball with quick, tight spin along with swing and miss action. He’s a bulldog and will be a great addition to campus wherever that ends up being!

Tucker Rice RHP / 3B / Madison Central, MS / 2027

The 6-0, 170 pound Madison Central product has a look about him that screams I’m not done yet. His lean frame has room for added mass that could take his already high level ability to another level. His fastball sits in the upper 80’s while touching 91 already and it has some life to it. Rice’s slider was one of the better breaking balls we saw with quick darting action and very tough on right handed hitters. It will be interesting to see what adding a little more mass does for Rice moving forward.

Whit Davis 1B / RHP / Jackson Academy, MS / 2027

Davis is still a work in progress but has a good of an understanding of ‘Pitching” as anyone at the event. His body is continuing to mature and we’ve believed all along he could end up one of the top pitchers in the class at some point. The 6-1, 207 pounder from Jackson Academy has feel for 3 quality pitches including a running fastball that currently works into the mid 80’s, a sweeping slider, and change up that he can kill the spin on. Each time we see him his stuff is better.

Ayden Demoran SS / RHP / Diberville, MS / 2027

Demoran has the ability to be a dual role player at the next level but due to roster numbers he came to Atlanta as a pitcher only and made the most of it. The athletic 6-1, 185 pounder from D’Iberville drew plenty of interest with his quick arm that generated fastballs up to 90 mph while sitting in the 87-89 mph range during his 2 innings of work versus Louisiana. Demoran also showed off a slider with good shape and 2500 spin.

Will Butler RHP / OF / Lewisburg, MS / 2027

We saw Butler at a Scout Day this summer and he impressed us enough to invite him to Atlanta. The 6-2, 192 pounder from Lewisburg made the most of his opportunity as he struck out 5 hitters over his 2 innings of work versus Louisiana. Butler uses a fastball that cuts a little and sits in the 85-87 mph (T-88) range, a breaking ball that works 67-69 mph and really interrupts hitters timing resulting in swings and misses or soft contact, and a changeup that he is still developing more command of.

Brady Rodgers 3B / RHP / Lewisburg, MS / 2027

Yet another Lewisburg arm at the Future Games. The Patriots seem to be growing pitchers up there and Rodgers is another moving towards the next level. The 6-0, 175 pound right hander goes right after hitters using a fastball that gets up to 87 mph though we feel that may rise with more overall body development. Rodgers also has good feel for his secondary arsenal, featuring a curveball with very good shape and 11/5 shape, along with a changeup that mimics his fastball arm action well.

Rowan Atkinson LHP / OF / Sumrall, MS / 2027

Atkinson uses a funky and deceptive delivery, with crossfire action that makes hitters very uncomfortable, especially the lefties. Now add the fact that his stuff is good as well and you have the making of something special. The 6–4, 190 pounder from Sumrall works his fastball into the upper 80’s and nothing he throws is straight. Atkinson also features a sweeper, and changeup that he can get the spin down to 1275 with arm side action.

Eli Housel OF / LHP / Grenada, MS / 2027

Housel was another pitcher we saw at a Scout Day this summer and were very excited about and knew we had to get him to Atlanta. The 6-0, 180 pound lefty from Grenada made the most of his trip as he showcased a 90 mph fastball with arm side run and a shape curveball that he worked backside to right handed hitters primarily. We aren’t saying Housel came out of nowhere but he definitely announced himself as much as anyone at the event.

Cooper Giger LHP / OF / Petal High School, MS / 2027

One of the loosest arms and whippiest at the event was connected to Giger. The 6-1, 150 pounder from Petal wasted no time establishing himself as one of the top left handed prospects at the event. Giger should have a busy August after dialing it up to 92 mph with his fastball during his 2 innings versus Louisiana on Thursday. He also used a sweeping slider in the 75-79 mph range, though his one and only change up may have been one of his best pitches of the outing as it faded away from a right handed hitter resulting in a ground ball to short for an inning ending double play. Look forward to seeing how this frame develops.
