Emerson, Ga. - Today marked the second day of the best uncommitted Class of 2026 event with players from around the nation flocking to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Senior Future Games. California teamed up with the states of Nevada, Oregon and Washington to form Team West Coast. The day consists of two games for the Team West Coast squad.
In their final matchup of the 2025 Prep Baseball Senior Future Games the Team West Coast squad faced off with the squad from the Mid-Atlantic. In a stellar pitching duel between the four arms from Mid-Atlantic and the four arms from West Coast the Mid-Atlantic squad picked up a 3-1 win victory. The loss dropped West Coast to 2-1 in the event, but culminated with an overall impressive showing for the entirety of the California players on the squad.
Connor Clayton from West Ranch High School made his pitching appearance throwing the fifth and sixth inning for Team West Coast and the two-way product added an exclamation mark to an overall sterling performance. Facing the minimum six hitters over two innings Clayton punched out two hitters while not allowing a baseball to leave the infield by inducing four ground ball outs from the Mid-Atlantic lineup. Clayton utilized a four pitch mix highlighted by a 87-88 MPH FB which peaked at 89 MPH while dropping in a pair of breaking balls in his 72-73 MPH curveball, 74-76 MPH SLD while mixing in a trio of CHGs ranging from 79-81 MPH.
Offensively, the trio of Jetner Welch (Santa Barbara High School), Justin Lopez (Villa Park High School) and Drew Hamburger (Homestead High School) all posted strong showings. Welch lofted a deep drive to LCF in his first plate appearance against a LHP that was run down at the base of the wall before in his second at bat staying on a CHG away to loft a double to the LCF gap. Lopez had hammered several baseballs over the first two games and in game three his contact was no different, but this time he found a hole to collect a single before drawing a walk. Lopez also made a pair of diving plays up the middle of the diamond showcasing his high level defensive potential as a middle infielder. Hamburger finished up a strong trio of games by drilling his second extra base hit of the weekend when he tripled to RCF in his opening at bat of the game.
