This summer, the best uncommitted Class of 2027 prospects will head to LakePoint Sports in Emerson, GA for the premier Prep Baseball Report Future Games. For the first time ever, the state of California will be bringing two teams: Team NorCal and Team SoCal. For the next three weeks leading up to the event we will be previewing each player that will be putting their talents on display in front of a plethora of college coaches from across the entire country.

Trey Howell-Chase is a shortstop and right handed pitcher from Rio Americano High. Howell-Chase, standing 6-foot-4, is one of many rising two-way stars to look out for in the Class of 2027.

This season for the Raiders, Howell-Chase excelled both in the batter’s box and on the mound.

At the plate, Howell-Chase was all over pitchers, hitting .373 with 19 hits and 9 runs batted in. Additionally, Howell-Chase had 4 extra-base hits, one of which coming via the long ball.

On the bump, Howell-Chase fanned 9 batters in just 12 innings pitched. The hurler held opponents to a .167 batting average and a .327 on base percentage.

At the NorCal Future Games Tryout, Howell-Chase was a standout of the day on both sides of the ball.

Howell-Chase’s 6.63 second sixty yard dash was the fastest on the day.

Offensively, the righty showed some pop with a max exit velocity that registered at 91.2 MPH off the bat.

Howell-Chase’s slider had batters fooled with an average spin rate of 2220 RPM and an average induced vertical break of -10.5 in, which was the second best of the event.

Whether it’s as a pitcher or hitter, Howell-Chase will be a must watch player at LakePoint later this month.

“Trey is an interesting athlete and what I mean by that is he’s a legit three sport athlete. Howell-Chase can drop 20 on the basketball court while dunking, he’s also a exceptional soccer player, if he wasn’t so dedicated to baseball this summer, he’d be doing stuff internationally for soccer, that’s how good he is. On the baseball side, he’s got such massive potential, he runs a 6.60 60 yd dash, he’s 6’4 and I think he’s still growing. There is still a lot of rawness to his game with baseball but he’s one of those kids with strong baseball bloodlines and a willingness to compete. I personally think he will end up in the outfield if he chooses to stick with baseball, he’s got plus speed as well.”- Hank LoForte, Associate Director NorCal
