Matt Miller
State Director

EMERSON, GA – The 2025 Prep Baseball Junior Future Games were held July 22-27 at the premier LakePoint Sports Complex, attracting over 400 college coaches from around the country to scout the nation’s top uncommitted talent in the 2026-2029 classes.

Prospects from Mississippi rose to the occasion, putting together an impressive performance during both the workout showcase and three days of high-level competition.

In this piece, we take a closer look at some of the top performances from Mississippi who stood out against the elite-level competition at the Junior Future Games.

MISSISSIPPI QUICK HITS

Chase Howard SS / 2B / Jackson Academy, MS / 2029

The smaller framed infielder from Jackson Academy packs a punch with advanced bat to ball skills and some current pop. Howard uses the middle to opposite field well with a short stroke and flat bat path which resulted in multiple line drives during game action. As more strength and speed are added to his game, watch out!

Eli McDaniels C / 3B / Mooreville, MS / 2029

McDaniels mature build stands out but so does his ability on the diamond. At the plate he is a dangerous, middle of the order run producer with enough power already to get it over the wall consistently, which he did twice in game play. He also has advanced ability behind the plate and will be a must follow over the next several years.

Tucker Elliott OF / LHP / Myrtle Attendance Center, MS / 2029

Tucker had one of the more polished deliveries at the Junior Future Games though like many at his age struggled to find the strike zone at times. As his frame develops and he hones in on the strike zone he could turn into a big time left handed pitching prospect in the 2029 class. He has a plus curveball though has trouble getting to it sometimes when he falls behind in the count. We look forward to seeing how he develops.

Dawson Lewis SS / 2B / Northwest Rankin High School, MS / 2029

Lewis separates himself on the field with athleticism and overall ability. The two time Junior Future has excellent bat to ball skills and a line drive, gap to gap approach with developing pop. He also showed the ability to play solid defense on both the infield and outfield which will make his future coaches job easier to get his bat in the lineup.

Jack Walter Roper SS / OF / Tupelo, MS / 2029

Walter found the barrel on several occasions during game action and like many of the players in this event he’s just waiting on his body to mature as the foundation is solid. He also has some upside on the mound as the arm is fluid and loose and his delivery is synced up well.

Will Andrews SS / C / Yazoo County High School, MS / 2029

Andrews is a switch hitter that makes consistent contact from both sides of the plate. As his overall speed continues to increase he could turn into a dangerous hitter in the early part of the lineup. Andrews, a right handed pitcher, also has some upside on the mound with a fastball near 80 mph at the moment. The next calendar year could tell a lot about where he’s headed on the diamond.

Aden Bell SS / RHP / Hartfield Academy, MS / 2029

Bell used a quick arm and synced up delivery to generate fastballs up to 84 mph during his time on the mound this past week. The Hartfield Academy rising 9th grader is still developing his secondary arsenal though could see action as early as this year if continues to pound the zone with his fastball. Bell also has upside as an infield though his ability on the mound stands out at the moment.

Grady Bledsoe SS / OF / North Pontotoc, MS / 2029

A very fluid and athletic mover on the diamond, Bledsoe was arguably the best position player prospect on a roster full of up and comers. He had a quiet demeanor about him but made some noise with his play. One of 2 players to homer during game action and as strength and speed come there’s a pretty good chance he finds himself near the top of the ranks in the 2029 class. We look forward to seeing him develop over the next few years.

Griffin Moss C / 3B / Houston High, MS / 2029

The 6-0, 190 pound receiver from Houston spent a majority of his time behind the plate and it's clear he has some upside at the position. Moss has good footwork, blocks well, and has a strong and still developing arm. At the plate he found the barrel very consistently with several key hits for Team Mississippi, including an rbi double with an exit velo of 93 mph.

Easton Smith OF / LHP / Lewisburg, MS / 2029

Smith has one of the more polished swings on the Mississippi roster, and like many players this age, when he matures look out. He has enough pop now to drive the baseball in the gaps but he will be a real nuisance in time. One thing that really impressed our staff was how comfortable he and others on this team were in the outfield on fly balls. Lewisburg continues to grow young talent and Smith is yet another on the way.

Kaysen Wiggins C / SS / Lewisburg, MS / 2029

Wiggins is another player back from last summer's squad and continuing to progress in a very good direction. He can play multiple positions well on the field including catcher which is a coach's dream. Wiggins, one of two Lewisburg players on the roster, can step on the mound and work his fastball into the low 80’s already. At the plate, he knows how to handle the bat and acts as a catalyst to get the offense going.

Murphy Gordon 2B / Starkville High School, MS / 2029

Again, like many of these players, Gordon’s body is still maturing but the foundation is strong and his skill set is solid. The rising 9th grader from Starkville already has significant playing time at the high school level and is only getting stronger. Gordon runs well, plays solid defense, and has an advanced look at the plate. We’ve had several players that fit his mold on our Future Games rosters over the past few years and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him, along with some others on this team, headed back to Atlanta in 2027.
