Southeast Super Sophomore Games: Alabama Quick Hits, Outfielders

Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

EMERSON, GA – The inaugural Southeast Super Sophomore Games took place August 2-3 at the renowned LakePoint Sports Complex, bringing together over 230 of the top uncommitted 2028 prospects from across the Deep South.

Alabama standouts made the most of the stage, turning in strong showings during both the workout portion and a pair of highly competitive games.

In this breakdown, we highlight some of the standout performances from Alabama outfielders who impressed against high-level competition. Stay tuned in the coming days as we continue our positional coverage of Alabama prospects from the event.

+ OF/LHP Hudson Oliver (Guntersville, 2028) has already made some big jumps since the last viewing at the Junior Future Games last year and continues to set himself apart from the majority of his peers. A pristine 5-foot-11, 171-pound build with uber-athletic traits, Oliver possesses impactful tools scattered across the profile that should only continue to develop and improve over the course of the next few years. The left-handed swing continues to show why he's the top-ranked player in Alabama, as he guides the barrel through the zone on a super clean path with present bat speed and some quality length to the swing. The approach is more pull-side gap with some upwardness to the path, and with added strength and physicality, the power tool should continue to come more into play over the next couple of years. Just a tool-shed of a prospect; 6.62 60-yard dash, 91 mph OF, 97.7 mph EV.

+ OF Bryson Hodge (James Clemens, 2028) had a real "stock up" week showcasing the elite athleticism and projectable tools packed into a 5-foot-10, 168-pound frame. Possessing a lean frame, there's much to dream on in terms of added physicality down the road, but the athleticism and twitchy actions continue to shine for the rising sophomore who is coming off a quality spring starting for a successful 7A program in the state. Started the workout clocking a 6.76 60-yard dash, and took a mature round of BP spraying firm contact up the middle with a top EV of 97.3 mph. The swing, which possesses extremely fast hands and great length through throughout, continued to play in-game with multiple hits against some talented arms, highlighted by a pair of doubles that were hammered into the LCF gap. Massive ceiling for the right-handed hitting outfielder.

+ OF Evan Money (Headland, 2028) arguably had the most productive week out of any prospect from Alabama in attendance with multiple quality swings and hits in gameplay. A 5-foot-10, 165-pounder, Money also was a standout in the workout, where he clocked a 6.83 60-yard dash, touched 91 mph from the OF, and barreled balls up to 98.6 mph during BP. The swing is simple and clean, keeping the barrel on-plane and through contact well while showcasing present bat speed and a line-drive approach. Using a level path, the right-hander was able to find the barrel more often than not, including a single, triple, and a hard lineout to RF in-game. A previous consistent in-game performer, the ceiling only continues to climb for the rising sophomore if he continues to show the same type of offensive production he did this past week.

+ Few in the class possess the same type of pull-side thump in the barrel than OF/LHP Brock Green (Northside, 2028) continues to show off in each viewing. A projectable 6-foot-1, 206-pounder, Green impacts the ball at a really high level from the left side of the plate and creates natural lift in the swing to help get the ball airborne for higher exits. A 7.11-runner in the 60-yard dash, the rising sophomore continued his strong showing with a barrel-laden round of BP, which including a top EV of 98.2 mph. An early shifting of the hands in the load help get the heavy barrel on-plane early, and utilizies the physical strength well in the swing to generate forceful contact to the pull-side gap. Also a talented, deceptive southpaw, Green operates in the low-80s with his heavy arm-side running FB and pairs it with quality secondaries. Talented two-way prospect to follow over the next year.

+ OF/LHP Brayden Entrekin (Russellville, 2028) continues show as one of our personal favorites in the rising sophomore class. A 5-foot-9, 163-pounder, Entrekin is a flat gamer and consistent in-gamer performer who seems to elevate his play the bigger the stage gets. A notable two-way prospect, the left-handed bat continues to carry most of the intrigue, as his quick, repeatable swing showcases a natural feel for the barrel and a pull-side LD approach in BP. A 6.94-runner in the 60-yard dash with a quick get-off, Entrekin uses the speed well to track in the grass with impressive arm strength peaking at 91 mph in the OF. A high-contact left-handed barrel, the swing translated to gameplay where he recorded a missle triple in his first at-bat. Competitor who has feel on the mound featuring low-to-mid 80s FB.

+ OF Ty Hunter (Hazel Green, 2028) continues to insert himself into the upper-echelon group of outfielders in the rising sophomore class in Alabama. Listed at 5-foot-9, 152-pounds, Hunter is another baller-type prospect who just continues to post time and time again. Using a rhythmic, efficent operation in the box, the left-handed swing works cleanly through impact while showing the ability to repeat it well. The approach is more line drive currently, but flashed some juice in gameplay with a loud F8 to the warning track in CF. Always on-time with each swing and shows great balance to the operation. A 6.92-runner who peaked at 85 mph from the OF and lived in the low-90s with EVs in BP.
