Heart of America Summer ID: Quick Hits

Eliott Wilk
Central Region Operations Director

On Tuesday, July 8th, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff traveled to LaRoche Field in Fort Scott, KS to host the annual Heart of America Summer ID. This event, featured 20+ players from all over Kansas and Missouri.

All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 13 names that popped to our staff from our trip to Fort Scott.

POSITION PLAYERS

A quick-twitch athlete, OF Jase Herrmann (Iola, 2027) showed an impressive combination of speed and power in Tuesday’s look. At 6-foot, 181-pounds, Herrmann posted the event’s top 60 time with a 6.83 while also flashing his strength at the plate, peaking at 95.9 mph exit velocity, showing the ability to drive the ball back through the middle of the field. He added an 83 mph outfield velocity to round out a well-balanced skill set.

1B Trevor Lofland (Webb City, MO, 2026) emerged from this look as a right-handed power bat to follow as he continues to polish his game. Built with plenty of strength at 6-foot, 185 pounds, Lofland produced one of the top exit velocities of the day at 94.5 mph, while averaging an impressive 87.7 mph per batted ball. His level right-handed swing allows him to repeat hard contact with ease, pointing to more in-game power to come.

Brock Wiemers (Frontenac, 2027) and Braden Strickland (Webb City, MO, 2026) were a pair of standout infielders from Tuesday’s event. PITCHERS

Our last event of the summer also featured one of the most electric performances we’ve seen all year from the arm of RHP Jake Busse (Olathe Northwest, 2027). Arguably one of the most projectable arms in the country, the 6-foot-7, 200-pound right-hander lit up the radar gun with a 90-94 mph fastball, peaking at 95 mph on his firmest bullet. He paired it with a sharp 79-83 mph slider spinning north of 2,400 RPM and an 81-83 mph changeup. Busse is a must-see arm for college coaches and looks well on his way to sitting in the upper 90s in the near future.

After a standout spring helping lead Blue Springs South (MO) to a Class 6 State Championship, RHP Grayden Seuferling (2026) impressed once again on the mound in this look, showing elite stuff and polish. Having touched the low-90s in previous outings, Seuferling worked comfortably at 89-91 mph here with a fastball that jumps out of a short, quick arm action. He paired it with a sharp 72-76 mph slider and a 77-80 mph changeup, both thrown for strikes. A proven competitor and strike-thrower, Seuferling continues to solidify himself as one of the must-see arms in Missouri’s 2026 class.

Tuesday's trip to Fort Scott gave our staff another look at RHP/INF Wyatt Hansen (Olathe South, 2027). The physical, 6-foot-3, 192-pound two-way continues to impress on the mound, filling up the zone with a mid-80s fastball that topped at 84.8 mph in this look, while mixing in a 65-67 mph slider with spin north of 2,400 RPM and 73-75 mph changeup with arm side fade.

In his Prep Baseball debut, RHP Luke Busse (Olathe Northwest, 2028) oozed projection from a long 6-foot-6, 178-pound frame. With plenty more in the tank, Busse worked in the low-80s with his fastball, topping at 82.8 mph with 2,300+ RPM spin. He showed feel to land a 67-70 mph slider for strikes with 2,400+ RPM spin and upwards of -18.3 inches of horizontal movement, while also turning over a 70-72 mph changeup. Busse will be a name to keep an eye on moving forward.

A durable 6-foot-2, 230-pound arm, RHP Blayne Lilienkamp (Carthage, MO, 2026) continues to make noticeable jumps each time our staff gets a look. The soon-to-be senior filled the zone with an 81-85 mph fastball (T85.9), pairing it with a 71-74 mph slider and a 70-71 mph changeup that kills spin. With his natural raw strength and physical frame, there’s plenty more in the tank for Lilienkamp as he trends upward.

TWO-WAYS

INF/RHP Brody Clasen (Mulvane, 2027) is a must-see two-way prospect who continues to emerge as one of the top names in the Kansas class. The 6-foot, 160-pound soon-to-be junior flashed loud tools at the plate, posting the day’s top exit velocity at 97.8 mph with an 89.6 mph average and 351-foot peak distance, while also showing an 83 mph infield arm. On the mound, Clasen’s projectability stands out, as he’s made a big jump this summer with no signs of slowing down. The right-hander ran his fastball up to 87.7 mph (sitting 85-86) with natural cut, pairing it with a 72-75 mph slider that already flashes swing-and-miss ability.

INF/RHP Fields Floersch (Blue Springs, MO, 2027) emerged as one of the event’s biggest winners, showcasing impact ability on both sides of the ball in one of the day’s most complete performances. The 5-foot-11, 172-pound athlete flashed bat speed and strength at the plate, driving the day’s furthest ball at 358 feet with a 92.5 mph exit velocity. He added an 88 mph bullet across the infield, showing arm strength and range defensively. On the mound, the junior impressed even more—pounding the zone with a four-pitch mix that featured a fastball at 86-88 mph (T88.8) with carry, a 72-73 mph curveball, a 75-76 mph slider, and an 80-81 mph changeup, all for strikes. Look for Floersch to play a big role for the Wildcats this coming spring.

INF/OF/RHP Mason Young (Webb City, MO, 2027) is a projectable two-way prospect who showed advanced tools all over the field, posting significant gains since our last look last summer. A three-sport athlete standing 6-foot-3, 181 pounds, Young showcased his athleticism with a 6.94 60-yard dash while moving easily around the infield and outfield, displaying both a 92 mph infield and outfield arm. At the plate, he showed the most improvement, nearly a 10 mph jump in exit velocity, peaking at 93.3 mph in this look. On the mound, Young worked 84-85 mph with his fastball, pairing it with a 68-79 mph curveball. He’s a name to watch as he continues to develop.
