Rising Stars On The Radar: 2028 OF Tyler Ryan (Malvern Prep)

Nathan Goranson
Northeast Scout

Ryan was a top performer at the East Coast Super Sophomore Games this summer at UNC Chapel Hill. He started with an extremely impressive showcase performance and stepped up his game even more in gameplay. A physical, lean, athletic frame of 5’9” and 165 pounds. Ryan is in the early stages of developing into a legit five-tool player.

What catches your eye initially when Ryan is playing is the fluid, easy athleticism. Legit 6.65 speed—this speed allows him to make impressive defensive catches, steal a multitude of bases, and stretch singles into stand-up doubles. Offensively, Ryan shined with a 97 mph exit velocity, a 376-foot max distance, and led the pack with a 100 percent sweet spot percentage. In gameplay, he collected at least 1 hit per game against the East Coast's best 2028 graduates. His simplistic toe-tap gather and hip coil load allow Ryan to produce consistent results of hard-hit baseballs.

The next tool is his elite arm strength from the outfield, upwards of 94 mph with a 4 seam spin and accuracy to the base. The arm strength and speed combined allow for defensive versatility by being able to play corner outfield and patrol centerfield as well.

Overall, this rising sophomore possesses the ability to be one of the Keystone State’s premiere players for years to come.
