Uncommitted Spotlight: '27 Israel Castillo

The summer is nearing its end, and the Prep Baseball Arizona staff has wrapped up nearly all summer events, with the Tucson Summer ID serving as the final stop. This year’s summer schedule featured multiple ID events, Top Prospect Games, and the Future Games, showcasing talented uncommitted prospects and providing opportunities for standout players to earn invitations to compete on the national stage.

Our staff has had eyes on hundreds of players this summer, with an in-depth look at those who performed at our events. As we near the end of a talent-loaded and busy schedule, we’ll take a moment to highlight some of the top uncommitted prospects from across our summer slate.

’27 C/RHP Israel Castillo from Mountain Ridge HS competed at the ’27 Top Prospect Games in June, where he performed on both sides of the ball and earned an invitation to the Future Games, the nation’s premier uncommitted event. During the workout day, he registered a max exit velocity of 97.3 mph and an average exit velocity of 91.2 mph. Behind the plate, he recorded a top pop time of 1.88 seconds with a catcher velocity of 79 mph. He added an inning on the mound during Game 3, where he ran it up to 87.4 mph with natural life and carry, capping off an all-around, head-turning summer.

Positional Profile: C/3B Showed a strong arm and rhythmic swing at the Arizona Top Prospect Games while flashing two-way upside.
Body: 5-8, 190-pounds. Broad-shouldered with strength throughout and catcher durability.
Delivery: Controlled, smooth delivery. Quick athletic leg lift with runners on. Blocks decent. Has some arm side run. 2 seam, and slider guy mainly. When he tunnels them can induce ground balls. 20 vert on heater.
Arm Action: RH. Good arm, loose flows well. Over the top. More run arm side, flattens out to his glove side.
ATH: 7.89 runner in the 60. 1.84 and 4.35 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 21.10 max vertical.
