On Wednesday, July 30th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX to host the North Texas Uncommitted Games, an event for uncomitted 2026 & 2027 prospects.

More than 60 players made their way to Tarleton and participated in a pro-style workout, followed by gameplay gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

Today, we take a look at the scouting reports on every catcher in attendance as well as rank the top 3 from the event.

TOP CATCHERS

1. Kane Decker, Iowa Park (TX), 2026
Positional Profile: C/3B RHH/C with good build to add strength. WAA runner, athletic. Shows solid raw arm strength now, solid pop times in workout. Received well in game play. Developing bat/power combo. Opportunities present for adjustments with hit approach. Athlete, with good build to add strength. Developing player, upside.
Body: 6-0, 198 pounds. Good build. Has width to shoulders and back. Solid lower half, showing strength. Good physical projections.
Hit: RHH. Toe tap stride, wide base. Rotational back foot, works. Learn to drive back foot forward creating some linear movement forward to fully engage lower 1/2. Stay into front side thru completion of swing. Resist falling back after swing. Solid posture present. Barrel/hands in good launch position. Takes solid path to hit zone with both. 72.8 mph bat speed with 20g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 99 mph max exit velocity (94.3 avg.); 377-foot max batted distance. Project solid bat/power combo in future with adjustments to hit approach. Contact consistency and ability to impact baseball will improve with changes.
Arm: RH. C - 81 mph. Arm works well. Nice, compact arm action. Has arm strength with above avg raw HS arm strength. Has carry.
Defense: 1.84-1.97 pop time range; Moves well. Waits for ball. Stays low, with a good glove exchange that transitions well. Puts ball right in front of bag.
Athletic Testing: 6.50 runner in the 60-yard dash; 25.30-inch max vertical jump. Quick start. Good runner with good strides. Creates the plus speed. Real stolen base threat.
