River Run Fall Games: Quick Hits, Pitchers

Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

NORTHPORT, AL - On Sunday, August 17th, the River Run Fall Games highlighted Opening Weekend at the newly opened River Run Park in Northport, AL, the new home for Prep Baseball Tournaments in Alabama. This event was an open event that consisted of prospects from the 2026-2030 classes. These players went through an pro-style workout that included batting practice using Trackman, defensive workout, Vizual Edge testing, and more. Pitchers were able to throw simulated innings during gameplay and were able to get numbers and metrics off of our Trackman unit, such as pitch velocity, spin rate, horizontal & vertical movement & much more. There were some players who showed up and continued to build off of prior performances, but there were also some new names who jumped onto our radar with a strong showing on Sunday.

Continuing our post-event coverage for this event, we dive into some of the top pitching prospects in attendance from the event. Please continue to check back over the next week, as we will release other leaderboards and individual scouting reports on each player present at the event.

+ LHP/OF Dylan Jordan (Wetumpka, 2028) was an impressive southpaw our staff saw this past spring pitching as a freshman for a quality 6A program and continued to elevate his stock with his outing on the mound this past weekend. An athletic 5-foot-9, 179-pounder, Jordan operates from a stretch delivery and a higher slot coming over the top, allowing the 84-86 mph FB to play with some ride at the top of the zone. While showing quality arm-side command for the heater, the CB proved to be his best pitch in the outing. Ranging 70-74 mph, it showed hard, downward 1-7 bite and created some uncomfortable takes/swings during the outing spinning north of 2400 RPM. Also an athletic left-handed bat with speed in the OF.

+ RHP/1B Kade Brantley (Thompson, 2027) is another talented two-way prospect who may have more upside as a primary pitcher. With a physical 6-foot-2, 197-pound build, the right-hander has a clean, low-effort delivery that flooded the zone with an 84-85 mph FB that showed typical arm-side run in this look. Also spinning it well, Brantley's SL has tunnel off the FB ranging 74-78 mph with good tilt and swing-and-miss traits with spin rates over 2300 RPM consistently. Also shows some thump from the right side of the plate offensively, recording a top EV of 92.4 mph during his round of BP. Still plenty of room to project down the road, and will be a key prospect to follow this coming spring.
