Rising Stars On The Radar: 2028 RHP/OF Owen Ehrenkranz (Princeton Day HS)

Nathan Goranson
Northeast Scout

A high-upside, premium frame of 6’3” and 188 pounds. The arm talent is undeniable when watching Ehrenkranz throw the baseball at the East Coast Super Sophomore Games this summer. The number 1 RHP in NJ’s 2028 class is a wiry mover with noticeable athleticism when throwing and hitting. On the mound, Owen possesses an 85-86.4 mph fastball that gets on the hitters with help from his late arm acceleration. The slider, 74-76 mph, has the shape, speed, and command to potentially develop into an elite secondary pitch. His changeup is a pitch thrown with confidence and located consistently in the lower quadrant of the strike zone at 75-76 mph.

At the plate, Owen displayed an above-average feel for the barrel, producing exit velocities upwards of 97 mph and a sweet spot percentage of 78 percent. His 92 mph average exit velocity was another standout metric from his showcase portion. His showcase performance translates right into gameplay with multiple hard-hit baseballs with a gap-to-gap approach.

Overall, Ehrenkranz is one of New Jersey’s highest-ceiling two-way prospects. An electric fastball with premiere arm speed and an innate feel for the barrel when at the plate.
