West Suburban Summer ID: Positional Analysis

By: Illinois Scouting Staff

On Tuesday, July 1st, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff hosted the West Suburban Summer ID at Lee Pfund Field in Wheaton, IL. This event always proves to be one of the more talented on the summer circuit, and this year was no different with numerous players going on to earn invites to invite-only events like the Illinois State Games and even the Senior Future Games.

Today, we are starting our post-event rollout with a look at all the position players from the day, including a ranking of who our staff thought showed the best in-event.

A trio of physical catchers that were on the barrel in their rounds of batting practice are Gustav Crane (Highland Park, 2027), Leo Macias (Glenbard North, 2026) and Ike Fogt (New Trier, 2027) - with Crane registering 95 for his max EV, Macias 99 mph and Fogt 90 mph.

A couple young incoming freshmen to keep tabs on are C Josiah Sykes (Nazareth) and 3B Tanner Fish (St. Charles East).

Sykes is an athletic right-hander hitter that was on the barrel throughout his round, showing some present twitch with a clean swing.

Fish took one of the louder rounds of BP on the day with a peak EV of 97 mph, averaging 92 mph with bat-speed in the mid-70s.
