2027 Fall Cheat Sheet - Pitchers
September 3, 2025
August 1st has came and went, bringing deserved attention from college recruiters to the top 2027s grads within our state, and nationwide. While the top talent will be taking visits in order to narrow their list and move towards a commitment in the coming months, this class features plenty of depth and this fall will certainly bring continued looks from recruiters. To tease our upcoming rankings update, we've complied a 'Cheat Sheet' for recruiters in need of arms in the 2027 class, with every arm featured below set to update inside the top 75 next week...
The Race for No. 1
Two arms that have seperated themselves from the rest at the present moment within this class...

Davis Moore LHP / Zionsville, IN / 2027+ Moore is a quick-armed, wiry athlete that stands at 6-foot-1, 160 pounds. His skyrocket up the list was well-documented throughout 2025 - building off a strong second-half of the spring with velo jumps that brought crowds this summer. Davis pitched up to 91 in Atlanta while sitting more 85-88, he has the ability to add/subtract with his heater and he can control it to both sides. The running fastball is only elevated by a his outstanding feel for a mid-70s slider with sweep and a faded change that plays at the same velocity. The stuff and frame check boxes, but the seperator with Moore is the pitch-ability. |

Cole Cheatham RHP / Union County, IN / 2027+ Up to 95 this summer while sitting in the low-90s, Cheatham uncoils from a big inward turn with intent to embarrass with his powerful arsenal. The physically imposing, 6-foot-3, 225 pounder also features a top-down curveball that plays with bite in the low-80s and tunnels well with his riding heater. He also began to show an upper-80s to low-90s cutter this summer that at times was spun with vicious late break. While there is some polishing to be done, Cheatham brings some of the loudest arm talent that I have identified for the age and there is a real chance he continues to get better. |

6 arms following the two above that we see most likely to move into tier 1 pitching prospects in the class ...
![]() |
Elijah Hall RHP / Noblesville High School, IN / 2027+ Athletic, 6-foot-2, 195 pounder who was one of our highest-touted arms in this class before injury struck at an unfortunate time late in this spring. He is coming off rehab still highly-regarded in our eyes because of the stuff he showed early in 2025. Hall was up to 91 in a spring start where he sat 88-91 and missed bats with above average carry. He complimented the heater with an upper-70s curveball that he spun for strikes, along with showing a sinker-like change at 82-84. While he missed some looks on the circuit this summer, Hall certainly has a chance to elevate his stock as he returns to the bump. |
![]() |
Lucas Haas RHP / Valparaiso, IN / 2027+ Oozing projection in a 6-foot-3, 165 pound frame - Haas fires 86-88 mph bullets from a full-circle, clean arm action and topped at 89 mph in ATL. The in-line, downhill nature of the delivery allowed the right-hander to play the fastball above its velocities with an average of 6'8" extension. Haas threw a slider that played with short sweep at 76-79 and also showed changeup feel. The changeup is sold with fastball arm speed and plays with heavy fade at 81-82 and for flashes it shows as a really interesting offering. There is starters' upside to enjoy and dream upon. Strength is likely to bring big velocity gains and clean up some occasional scatter, though there is average control present to build upon. |
![]() |
Sam Tokar RHP / Yorktown High School, IN / 2027+ One of the highest-ceiling arms on this list. The in-line, downhill nature of the delivery makes it one of my favorite in the class and there is late life to a heater that we've seen in the upper-80s routinely and up to 90.5 in ATL. There is a short, firm, bullet-style slider thrown in the low-80s with an occasional above average change thrown as well. The arm action is a safe one to bet on and begins a long list of upside traits: a 6-foot-3, 190 pound young-for-class athlete that also stars on the gridiron as a QB. |
![]() |
Chase Gothrup RHP / William Henry Harrison High School, IN / 2027+ One of the highest floor arms in the class with one of the safer SP tabs as well. 6-foot-1 athletic frame holds room for growth. Balanced, low-effort delivery works in line and helps establish strong control for the zone. Arm action is compact and repeatable. The ability to control the strike zone with 3 above average pitches, and upside within the athletic frame, are the valued traits here. FB: 86-88 |
![]() |
Charlie Herr RHP / Homestead Senior High School, IN / 2027+ Herr is an upside play that broke out at the All-State in March and continued to do so this summer, including a positive outing at the Prep Baseball Future Games. He showed well in multiple summer looks with a fastball that has been up to 88. He is 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds with a super easy/athletic delivery and a clean arm that works to a wide, low 3/4 slot. The fastball works mostly 84-86 and plays with run, and he pairs it with a well-spun sweeper in the low-70s. There is feel for a 72-75 change to project starters' upside in the future. The present stuff is solid here, but the upside is immense. |
![]() |
Riley Ackerman LHP / Crown Point, IN / 2027+ The 6-foot-2 southpaw holds another safe starters' tab with three above average offerings that he controls very well. Ackerman routinely pitches in the mid-80s with a recorded max of 87 mph for now, but expect that number to tick with strength gains that are sure to come. Ackerman threw late-fading, swing-and-miss changeups in the upper-70s in ATL, the highlight of his outing at the Future Games in my eyes, while also showing his high-spin, mid-70s slider, his traditional bread-and-butter. Ackerman is another bullish take amongst this group that could continue to see his name rise as his pure stuff continues to enhance. |
2way Talents
Prospects that excel on both sides of the ball with a chance to do both at the next level, highlighting their abilities on the bump specifically here
![]() |
Camden Moore 3B / RHP / Zionsville, IN / 2027+ 6-foot-5 primary infielder, but the upside is immense on the bump. Is newer to the pitching side of things but made a serious splash with a couple of stellar looks this summer. The arm action is one of the best in class and there is certainly room for refinement in the lower half moves that could enhance a fastball that reached 91 presently. Strength likely brings louder velocities, as well. He spins an upper-70s slider with upside and it is a present above average offering. |
![]() |
Grady Grant SS / RHP / Center Grove, IN / 2027+ Quality mover w/ clean, loose arm that produced a fastball up to 89 in Atlanta. Sits mid-to-upper 80s mostly and spins the baseball well. Has feel to manipulate two breaking balls, spinning them up to 2700, while also flashing a mid-70s change that looks the part of a weapon. Wiry, immature, 5-foot-11, 165 pound frame should continue to pack on strength. Is also my favorite infield defender in this group with a silky LH stroke to pair. |
![]() |
Aden Baggett LHP / OF / 1B / North, IN / 2027+ Primary arm but does hold two-way value with a short, left-handed stroke that plays with barrel feel and a 6-foot-2 athletic frame that provides upside on both sides of the ball. Has been up to 88 on multiple occasions with a simple delivery. Arm works and feel to spin and control spin comes with it. Spin north of 2500 plays in the low-70s and there is feel to kill spin on a low-70s CH/SPL too.
|
![]() |
Paxton Lukac OF / RHP / Andrean High School, IN / 2027+ Highly-athletic standing at 6-foot, 160-pounds. 6.58 runner that also produced near triple digit exits. The arm is intriguing on the bump - playing with cut, up to 89 while sitting 84-87. It is a simple, raw-ish delivery, but the arm really works and there is twitch. Lukac can also flash a well above average slider at 78-80 with raw spin metrics over 2800 at times. |
![]() |
Alex Gilliam RHP / OF / Center Grove High School, IN / 2027+ Undersized, compact, 5-foot-8, 180-pound frame. Very athletic/explosive - runs a 6.7 60 along with reaching a fastball into the low-90s on the bump. Routinely sits in the upper-80s, has touched 91 multiple times. Upper-70s slider plays with wipeout break at times, into the 2600s. |
![]() |
Connor Christiansen RHP / SS / CATHEDRAL HIGH SCHOOL, IN / 2027+ Good mover w clean, full arm action. Up to 90, will pitch in the mid-to-upper 80s most with sinker properties to the fastball. Does show some SNK/4S manipulation. Shows two above average secondaries in 75-77 SL (23-2500) and 80-81 CH. Stretch 6-footer with above average control & athleticism, also doubles as a slick fielding middle infielder with the arm translating there. |

Darkhorse Follows
16 sleepers that provide impact intrigue in one way or another...
+ RHP Jaylen Wells-Henderson (New Albany) - 6'2 RHP w one of the higher ceilings in the class stemming from well above average athleticism that allows him to shine as a trackstar as well. Clean, tight, tucked operation w a quick arm working freely. Fastball plays in the mid-80s consistently, ran it up to 89 this summer. Spins the breaking ball firm.
+ RHP Bryton Gregg (Greencastle) - 5'11 wiry, up to 88 with feel for quality spin. Reliable in the zone...
+ LHP Nick Winters (Indian Creek) - 6-foot, 180-pound southpaw with a downhill delivery and compact AA. 4-pitch mix highlighted by 86 FB and firmer SL (up to 78).
+ RHP Destin Billings (Washington Township) - Nearly a true sidearm slot with mid-to-upper 80s heater that has touched 90 before. Spin is solid avg. Quality arm speed pairs with an athletic, 5-foot-10, 170 pound frame.
+ LHP Culter Chastain (Bedford North Lawrence) - 6-foot-1, 175-pounder. Love the mover here - loose operation. Hips work, keeps the ball moving w uninterrupted arm action. Controls the zone well. Big riser from the summer that was up to 86.
+ LHP Preston Seidl (Castle) - 6-foot, 185-pound stocky, athletic frame. Up to 87 this summer with some bat-missing ability. Some deception in the delivery, hides the ball well in shorter arm action allowing for some jump. Average secondaries play better with feel for them.

Projectable 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame. Struck out 4 in 2.1 innings of work. Smooth mechanically and gets down the mound easy.

+ RHP Carter Lowe (Zionsville) - All of 6-foot-1, 165-pounds with a projectable look. Put together a strong summer with velocities playing in the 84-87 range and strikes consistently. CH over spin, speaks positively to the CH, SL flashes AA.
+ RHP Sam Flickinger (Westfield) - Reliable RHP that works in the mid-to-upper-80s with a sinking fastball while pulling the string on an above average to better change. Spin is a show pitch, consistently fills it.
+ RHP Mason Gomez (Franklin) - 6-foot-5, 205 pounder that flashes a powerful look at times. Comes from a high over-the-top slot with athletic movement patterns for the lengthy frame. Heater plays w ride above bats. 85-88 FB T 89, 75-77 SL, 80-82 CH.

6’5” 200 stretch-only mover. Good athlete for frame.
True ride profile causing FB swings-and-misses to mitigate traffic and post a zero. Firm SL flashes bite.

+ RHP Guerin Boshears (Beech Grove) - Superb athlete standing at 6-foot, 175 pounds. Dynamic mover coming off injury that kept him out of the 2025 spring. Was up to 88 in 2024 w abv-avg spin, closer to 84-86 this summer but jumps seem likely. Spin is solid average.
+ RHP Harper Sturtsman (Manchester) - Sturdy, 6-foot-3, 260-pounder with present feel to pitch. Consistently sits in the mid-80s (T 88) on a heater that plays above bats with a true ride profile. 74-76 CB plays w feel and two-plane shape. Also shows a low-80s CH.
+ RHP/INF Luke Haley (Homestead) - Interesting athlete from a power program that continues to churn out arms. Fastball only up to 83 in the winter but supposedly has made a jump since. Also doubles as a RHH 3B w some juice. Good fall follow.
+ RHP Jack Kunas (Munster) - Loose, wiry, 6-foot-1, 170-pounder with projection remaining. Well-sequenced delivery with a loose arm that produced a mid-80s (T86) fastball that plays with carry and will likely elevate from a velo perspective at some point. Shows feel for a gradual, upper-60s breaking ball and will flash a mid-70s CH, too.
+ RHP Franko Ortega (Columbus North) - 6-foot-1, 165-pounder that moves well, and spins a very, very solid breaking ball. Loose, projectable arm action - FB plays up to 86 presently with more to come. 73-75 CB averages over 2700 raw spin w two-plane shape, 75-77 SL is even better (2800+ avg, bigger shape).
+ RHP Cole Sabelhaus (Brownsburg) - Loose, easy mover with a 6-foot-1, 180-pound frame. Up to 88 in showcase this winter with a clean look. Rumored higher this summer. Quality fall follow with a real chance to tick.
+ RHP Eli Shoppell (Homestead) - A wiry athlete with a 6-foot, 155 pound frame - there is ample room to add to this athletic body that could increase velocity on his present 83-86 fastball in a hurry. I love the way he moves, and the arm is just as clean. Shoppell spun a 74-77 slider that averaged 2481 RPM, and played with sweeper shape. The SL has a chance to be a swing-and-miss offering and there was some feel for a 78-80 CH as well.
