Many of these uncommitted players stood out with impactful summers, displaying athleticism, projection, and skillsets that make them exciting follows heading into the fall. Each brings a fresh dynamic to the class, underscoring the bright future of Utah baseball.

🔝 10 Uncommitted Players: Class of 2026

Ripken Roberts SS / 3B / Skyridge, UT / 2026

Ripken looks and plays the part of Division I level, physical SS. 6’3 189 lbs and running a 6.7 at that position is what you look for when building a roster. Intent to hit is there from the right side and has shown improved power development the past 6 months as he has matured. Rip comes from a professional baseball family, with Father and Brother both playing at high levels, and the IQ and gametime ability has passed right on down. A unique athlete oozing projectability and the production to match, Rip won’t be uncommitted for long!

Trey Vaughn OF / RHP / Snow Canyon, UT / 2026

One of the most physical athletes in his Class, and the State, Trey is a two-way athlete (FB/Baseball) that can flat out swing it. At 6’1 195 lbs, built like a LB in football but smooth and mobile enough to play 1B or corner OF with a solid arm (83mph). The power tool is exceptional, reaching up to 106 EV and consistently launching balls to the gaps above 100 mph. If Trey can get his hands extended on a pitch, there isn’t a field in the country that will hold him. This kid can hit and will continue to develop in the Warrior program.

Garrett Downing OF / 2B / Corner Canyon, UT / 2026

Garrett has been a consistent Varsity impact player for the Chargers for the last 2 years. He will surpass an awesome HS milestone this year, 100+ Career Hits, and will again be in the top half of the lineup for a team with Championship aspirations. Smooth swinger from the left side that stays inside the ball very well, and doesn’t overswing or try to do too much. Excellent jumps and reads in the outfield, and he plays CF with a confidence you love to see. Consistency and tools that will continue to improve with age, Garrett is collegiate level player without a doubt!

Cayman Sanchez SS / OF / Olympus, UT / 2026

You would be hard pressed to find many players who love the game more than Cayman. I have had the privilege to see him play more than 25 times, yet I have never coached him. That passion for the game bleeds into the way he plays and he brings it every single time. A true “dirtbag” type player, he possesses a lot of tools and an athleticism to play just about any position on the field. Cayman looks the part and has room for continued growth and physicality as he matures. The upside is real and the impact he can make on the field and on a culture, are legitimate. Whoever gives this kid a chance is going to be very happy with their decision!

Cohen Allred SS / RHP / Riverton School, UT / 2026

Cohen has proven to display some of the most upside at the plate from the right side in his Class. A toe-tap load and an intent to get the barrel out and punish the pitch, you can see why he is not someone you want to miss over the plate too. A Futures Games Alum who has been no stranger to high level Varsity baseball over the years, had some arm issues not turned up this would likely not be a kid we are discussing in the Uncommitted spotlight. Cohen understands the game and has an ability to play. With a new staff at Riverton that focuses on development and teaching players how to play winning baseball, I look forward to the next year and can’t wait to see where he ends up; because it will be somewhere!

Dawson Brown SS / OF / Lehi, UT / 2026

This is one of those kids that just shows up time in and time out. Every year he has gotten better and better and continues to display high level production, with advanced athleticism. Dawson has been a staple in the lineup the past two seasons for the Pioneers, locking down CF and the heart of the order. Dangerous hitter with runners on base or in a big spot, he has shown a knack for getting the job done when it matters most. An ability to focus in the biggest spots off the best arms, with athleticism to match, I expect a huge Senior Season for Dawson and to be playing baseball for someone in 2027.

Samuel Smith OF / RHP / West Field, UT / 2026

A big physical two-way athlete (FB/Baseball) that possesses the tools you could project to very high levels. 6’2 208 lbs, running a 7.1, displaying elite power tools with an arm up to 87 from the OF, and EV’s reaching triple digits. When Sam puts it all together, he has shown he can carry a team in any game both at the plate and on the mound. A fierce competitor that carries that energy with him to every game and opportunity, he expects success and carries himself with confidence. The potential is there and so is the production, wherever Sam lands he is going to make an impact.

Kenny Johnson 3B / RHP / American Fork, UT / 2026

Kenny took one of the biggest jumps of anybody in the state over the course of the last year. His first year pitching Varsity, and he was an integral part of the rotation for the eventual 6A State Champions, American Fork. During that final week of playoffs, Kenny really shined and showed his true potential. His final two outings were both complete games (1st two of the year), including a gem in the State Championship game where he tossed 7 innings allowing only 2 runs on just 88 pitches. A breakout 2025 campaign, watch out for the 6’4 right hander to continue his excellent performances and find a collegiate home sooner rather than later.

Austin Smith C / 1B / Crimson Cliffs, UT / 2026

I have Austin as a Top 3 Catcher in the State for his Class and that is in large part due to his consistent production on the field. A breakout Junior Season, he played a crucial role for the Mustangs who were eventual 4A State Champions, winning from a lower seed making a run the final two weeks. Clutch offensive moments and sound defense all season long, Austin proved to be one of the best all-around catchers in Utah. Similar success was found all Summer for him and I have seen the growth already. Someone you can count on everyday, I look forward to a strong 2026 Season from Austin.

Bryce Mounteer 3B / 1B / Riverton, UT / 2026

Bryce was unknown to me until he impressed at a summer ball game I happened to be at, while I was there to watch someone else. I saw a hitter in the box who was actively hunting every pitch, and when he pulled the trigger his intent was clear; do damage. After getting a chance to see him up close at Top Prospects Games, what I saw in the game matched the workout. Physical athlete that looks the part of a strong CIF, and displays above average tools. 100+ EV with a repeatable flat path through the zone, Bryce will again be a consistent hitter between the gaps and will be a huge part of the Riverton program with Championship goals.
