TENNESSEE QUICK HITS 📝

Braxton Weatherford SS / RHP / Clarksville, TN / 2028The younger brother of a former Team Tennessee Future Games participant, Braxton looks to have a lot of the same characteristics as his older brother, while showing a little more power in the barrel in tune to multiple extra base knocks this past weekend at Super Sophomore Games. Getting going in his first at-bat, Weatherford would take the second pitch and send it over the LCF fence in an absolute hurry. In his second game, he would take a 1-2 breaking-ball that stayed inside of the plate and would lace a low line drive to the left field wall for an easy standup double. Shows a mature approach in the box and had the hit tool on full display. Good athlete and shows the makings of a solid base floor already as he goes into his sophomore year. |

Tyler DeHaan RHP / SS / South Gibson, TN / 2028The South Gibson native gave us our first look this past winter and we were eager with excitement at the present ability to pitch to the strike zone with command of multiple pitches at just 14 years old. About 6 months later DeHann has continued to blossom and the intangibles stand out immensely. Standing in at 6 foot 2 and just 156 pounds, DeHann comes in extremely high waisted and long with a looseness to the arm and operation. Worked 87-88 with ease in his first inning before settling in at 84-86. Spins the fastball decently well already on the four seam that also gets late arm-side run. The breaking-ball still needs additional development but shows ingredients for a capable secondary offering. The changeup had multiple bad swings on the offering but needs to continue to learn to kill spin. Showed well and worked around some walks but shows the aptitude to pitch at a really high level and someone that we are excited to continue to follow. |

Jack Schmahl LHP / 1B / Oakland High School, TN / 2028The Oakland high school product comes in with a lot of pitchability and command of the strikezone. Lived heavy fastball working both sides of the plate with a crossfire action coming into RHH. Lived 78-81, topping 83 with 21 inches of average induced vertical break. The curveball carries present depth with sweep with 13 inches of average induced vertical with 11.6 inches of average horizontal. He also showed true differentiation with the slider where he commanded it on the 0 vertical line with 11 inches of average horizontal. His best weapon may have been the changeup where he killed spin (1100) with late fade to RHH. Not only did he show well metrically but also had multiple whiffs on pitches, while racking up more than 5 K’s in three innings of work.

Reese Hall LHP / Beech, TN / 2028Got our very first look at the southpaw and left very impressed and intrigued with the upside and current path that Hall is on. Durable frame at 6 foot 2 and 210 pounds and moves exceptionally well down the mound with an ease to the operation. Lived 83-86 with the fastball, while topping 87, mostly attacking the glove side. Showed present feel with the slider at 76-79 with both depth and sweep that was able to get to the right-handed hitters back foot on multiple occasions.

Brett Paciorek SS / LHP / Ravenwood, TN / 2028Is the #1 player in the 2028 class in Tennessee. In the showcase portion, Paciorek showed elite athleticism with a 6.77 60 and also popped a 89 MPH infield velocity. In the game play, the switch hitting Paciorek’s AB’s were wise beyond his years, rarely going outside of the strike zone which led to multiple free passes. When the ball was put into play, it was sprayed to all fields with elite barrel control. This was our first opportunity to see Brett in a game setting. His defensive prowess is some of the most impressive in the class and puts him in line to be a true shortstop long term.

Kai Bledsoe OF / 2B / Martin Luther King Jr School, TN / 2028Is the definition of a true gamer. The left-handed hitting Bledsoe shows an innate ability to take full control of AB’s and is a pest with two strikes with an elite ability to foul pitches off and draw walks. Bledsoe also has great barrel control and is always in a good hitting position which allows him to pepper balls to the middle of the field. On defense, he tracks the ball very well with good jumps on anything in front of him. Bledsoe still has room to fill out and will only get stronger which will only enhance his game.

Jonah Saken 2B / SS / Ravenwood, TN / 2028Is a top 10 player who had a big first day of game play. In his first AB, Saken flew out to the warning track and followed this up with a triple to the wall. Saken has a twitchy swing which allows him to be on time for velocity. He also has great barrel control with the ability to drive baseballs to both gaps. Defensively, Saken has an elite glove and the ability to play anywhere in the field but will probably settle somewhere in the middle of the field. Saken also posted a blazing 6.65 60 time which was top 10 in the event. Saken is one of the youngest players in the 2028 class and will continue to fill out and mature.

Chase Gockenbach 3B / C / Lakeway Christian School, TN / 2028Showed up big in the showcase with a max distance of 381 ft. Gockenbach is a true third baseman with a strong build and big power potential. In game play, Gockenbach smoked a double down the line showing great bat to ball skills and a simple approach. In the field, he shows a good glove with an above average arm. Gockenbach is also a right-handed pitcher that ran his fastball up to 86 MPH and showed a sharp slider that resulted in multiple strikeouts. Gockenbach will be one to watch in the coming years with true two way potential.

Xander Jackson 3B / 2B / Green Hill, TN / 2028Is a guy that caught our eye initially on defense with advanced actions at third base leading to multiple tough double plays. Definitely a true third baseman long term with the ability to move to the middle in a pinch. At the plate, Jackson shows some power potential with a max exit velocity up to 94 MPH. Jackson possesses a strong lower half with a good build that will continue to get stronger. Look for Jackson to be a force for a strong Green Hill squad in the spring. |

Drew Wagner 3B / 2B / Lipscomb Academy, TN / 2028The Lipscomb Academy third baseman brings power with his hit tool and deception in his pitching arsenal. Drew topped at 100.3 mph exit velocity during workouts and consistently hit the ball hard. His fastball sits in between 81-83 mph but uses a late, deceptive release to blow the pitch by the batter. To top off his performance, he showed off his range by reaching a ball hugging the line and unloading a throw from third to beat the runner. Drew’s versatility is a significant asset to the Mustangs who will look to repeat as state champs. |

Fisher Green SS / RHP / Halls, TN / 2028Fisher is one of the most intense players I've seen in the last year and a half. He channels that intensity into positive results on both sides of the ball. Fisher left the event with a walk and was robbed of a hit with a scorched lineout to a diving second baseman. His hard contact approach helped him top out at 95.1 mph exit velocity and maintain a line drive % of 60%. On the pitching side, he maxed out at 89.4 mph on his fastball and spun his sweeper well, topping at 2625 RPM. Fisher is the model for maintaining exceptional performance and focus no matter what happens during the game.

Drew Massey RHP / 3B / Liberty Creek, TN / 2028When Drew settles in on the mound, it's game over for the opposition. Drew held a solid tempo on the mound during the game Saturday night while notching 6 K’s over 3 innings. His focus on maintaining solid mechanics and pinpoint control is complemented by his fastball that tops out at 87 mph. He has good body control for his size, sitting at 6’3” and 203 lbs. As his velocity continues to increase, Drew’s solid, fundamental base helps to project his long-term success.

Hudson Brown RHP / OF / Heritage, TN / 2028Hudson showed the world why he is ready to be a frontline starter going forward. During Saturday's game, he had a solid outing over 3 innings and maintained his velocity all throughout. His fastball sat at 84-86 mph and topped out at 87 mph which is very impressive for his size (5’11”, 157lbs). His velo never dipped below that and had an average of 85 mph. This was accompanied by an impressive slider which Hudson controls and spins well (2280-2443 RPM). Hudson’s admirable endurance and potential to be a swing-and-miss starter are something to follow over the coming months.

Carson Haney SS / 2B / Lincoln County, TN / 2028A solid performance in workouts and gameplay. The highlight of Saturday’s game was a one hop triple that would lead to him eventually scoring. His BP round opened some eyes as he consistently hit the ball hard, averaging 92.3 mph exit velocity and topping out at 95.3 mph. Carson is able to make consistent hard contact by maintaining a strong lower half and sitting on the back leg. The no. 4 ranked shortstop in the state has focused on improving his power over the summer and that work is starting to show on the big stage.

Max Misenhimer C / 3B / Grace Christian Academy, TN / 2028One of a handful of returning members from the 2024 JFG Team Tennessee, the Knoxville product showed off big leaps from last summer. Has shown an increase in physicality with present strength throughout the frame with more to come. At the plate he works counts and fights off pitches, never giving up an at bat. Shows great feel behind the plate, working with the pitching staff well. A hard worker behind the dish he stole multiple strikes and made some solid in game throws, Arm strength is there and has potential to be a plus asset behind the plate, 77 mph in the showcase but has shown a 88 mph velo in the INF. Part of a loaded young core for GCA Knoxville, he is one to watch. |
![]() |
Brendan Kutz C / OF / Farragut, TN / 2028Back at LakePoint after a solid 2023 JFG performance, the Farragut product has begun to scratch the surface of what he can do on the baseball field. A gamer, he had several high IQ at bats, shortening up to do a job and get the runner home from third. At 5’11 and 190 lbs he has a great build for a catcher with room to mature physically. A lot more to come from Kutz as he looks to make an impact for the 4 time defending champs. |
![]() |
Grady Callaway C / 3B / Davidson Academy, TN / 2028It just takes one look at Callaway to see the massive upside in the frame, lean yet physical at 6 '1 and 184 its the definition of projectable frame. The name of his game is hitting and he does that with the best of them, he uses a simple and smooth swing to generate big time pop with a present hit tool. Primarily a catcher he showed a 2 flat pop time at 77 mph, with some polishing needed in his receiving. Will continue to hit through his high school years and make big jumps physically, time will tell if he sticks behind the plate but wherever he ends up he's certainly going to rake.

Reid Bostic SS / RHP / Lipscomb Academy, TN / 2028Surprise Surprise, another top tier prospect out of Lipscomb Academy, Bostic showed upside as a two-way player and had a great outing during the Super Sophomore games. Very raw in all aspects but has a powerful motor that, if he can harness it, will power him into the next level. Never gets cheated at the plate, when he connects it's a sight to see, he drove one over the left field fence for a bomb in gameplay this past weekend. Present plus batspeed he shows early flashes of a mature hit tool. 90 across the infield and up to 86 on the bump he shows versatility in the field, able to play multiple positions well. Lots to like about the Mustang, and should be a contributor for the defending champs. |

Jack Rhodes C / OF / Christ Presbyterian Academy, TN / 2028A top ten player overall in the ‘28 TN state rankings and the top catcher there is no ceiling when it comes to what Jack Rhodes can do on the baseball field. A frame to dream on at 6 '2 and 180 lbs he moves extremely well behind the dish, posting a 1.84 poptime at 78 mph and proved it in gameplay. A 6.86 runner in the 60, the lefty bat is raw, but still produces at a high level. All the ingredients of someone who plays baseball for a long time, Rhodes is a must watch as he gets into his later highschool career. |

Coleman Smith RHP / 1B / Boyd Buchanan, TN / 2028We were curious about Smith for some time. Comes with a physical presence at 6 foot 3 and 210 pounds with controlled aggression down the mound that screams for more velocity in the coming years. Attacked hitters consistently with 84-87 with both hop and arm-side carry. Worked around some walks but shows a lot of intriguing attributes with more to come. The slider is good and generated some swing and miss as hitters worked over the baseball with their barrels and showed good sequencing with the pitch working off the fastball. The changeup showed effectiveness and control in the zone with killed spin in the 1500-1600 range. Showed the making of three offerings with a starter profile and someone that we will continue to follow closely as we get into the fall and beyond. |
