Wisconsin Rankings Class of 2026: Risers

By: Wisconsin Staff

With a busy summer circuit now in the books, several juniors in Wisconsin’s 2026 class used the past few months to raise their stock in a big way. This update brought plenty of movement up and down the board, with several juniors making notable climbs — including a number of prospects who pushed their way into the top-100 after strong summer performances.

TOP-100 RISERS

+ Liam Hagland, RHP, Germantown: "Hagland would continue to put string together quality performances healing into the summer after emerging as a key piece to Germantown late in the season leading to an invite to the Prep Baseball Senior Future games where he was a standout arm for Team Heartland. FROM 7/22/25: Another Wisconsin product would take the mound for the fifth and sixth innings in RHP Liam Hagland (Germantown, 2026; Wisconsin). Hagland would work two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit while punching out one. He showed a carry fastball at 86-90 mph, while pairing it with a late-breaking slider at 80-82 mph."

+ Callen Tomsyck, OF/RHP, Muskego: "Has enjoyed a standout year at the plate, showing feel for the barrel and driving the ball consistently in front of our staff even going back to the spring season. A standout pitcher with feel for two upside pitches to pair giving the athletic right-right prospect a two-way ceiling at the next level. FROM 8/11/25: “Coming off an appearance at the Senior Future Games in which he led the entire national event with six hits (6-for-7 total, with a double and a home run), Tomsyck continued to impress back home in Wisconsin. Balanced base in the box, weight set slightly on the back foot with a calm, minimal pre pitch timing mechanism. Line-drive tendencies with a feel to elevate the baseball; 100.4 mph max EV in the showcase, translating to a solo home run over the left-center field fence in the first game of the State Games. After the last couple weeks, Tomsyck looks like one of the very best uncommitted athletes in the entire region – and he can also really pitch, though we didn’t see it at The Rock this time around.”

+ Jimmy Angle, OF, Kettle Moraine; Eastern Illinois: "One of the top performers in the state over the summer, looking like a potential impact bat at the next level that can find his way into a lineup sooner rather than later. The strong right-handed hitter gets to his bat speed with ease with an innate feel to lift the ball in the air. FROM 8/11/25: “Has been one of the top hitters in the state across the summer circuit and continued to hit throughout the gameplay portion of the event. Medium leg lift load, fluid motions in the swing, backspin line drive/fly ball tendencies. Posted a max EV of 98 mph and a max OF velocity of 84 mph during the workout. Proceeded to hit a home run over the left field fence in game. Premium combination of size, strength, bat speed, and in-game production. Angle has the ability to be an impact run-manufacturer at the next level right away.”

+ Ian Kawczynski, MIF, Catholic Memorial; Wisconsin-Miwaukee: "The athletic middle infielder has shown the ability to stick at shortstop while the production at the plate has steadily ticked up as he’s grown into his frame, consistently driving the ball with more impact as a result. FROM 2/26/25: One of the biggest winners of the day was UW-Milwaukee Panthers commit INF Ian Kawczynski (Catholic Memorial, 2026; UW-Milwaukee). The middle infielder looked as if he added considerable strength to his lower half and it resulted in one of the event best 60 yard dash times (6.73 seconds) and hard consistent contact throughout his round of batting practice. The right-hander’s quick and twitchy hands through the baseball resulted in rockets to all fields from an aggressive yet controlled swing. He maxed out his exit velocity at 93 mph and had an average exit velocity of 90 mph. On defense, Kawczynski continues to show burst and athleticism in the infield to go along with his soft hands and has enough arm strength to stick on the left side and/or play multiple positions around the field. Kawczynski proved why he is a name to know in the state after his performance."

+ Caleb Johns, INF/RHP, New Berlin Eisenhower: FROM 4/25/25: "Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 31 in the state’s junior class, listed at a strong 6-foot-1, 205 pound frame. Hit leadoff and started on the mound. At the plate, the right-hander went 2-for-3 with a walk. The first hit was a leadoff home run in the first inning on a 2-2 count, followed by an RBI single to center field in the second. He shows a compact, balanced stance at the plate with a heavy barrel through the zone. Johns also started on the mound, where he threw a fastball at 84–86 mph, complemented by a 73–74 mph curveball."

+ Elijah Gammage, RHP/OF, New Berlin West: FROM 8/11/25: "Athletic 6-foot, 182-pound frame. The right-handed hitter reached peak EV of 100.4 mph in the workout portion of the showcase to pair with 88 mph from the outfield. Showcased a lively arm on the mound with an upper-80s fastball and a 69-72 mph curveball with sharp 11/5 break. While his outing at this event featured some free passes, Gammage was in the midst of a breakout summer on the mound in which he looked like he had really harnessed control over one of the liveliest arsenals in Wisconsin – and we’re still sky-high on the potential here. Gammage gets to premium velo (up to 92 mph at a Prep Baseball tourney this summer) with low effort, and he’s molded a quality breaking ball into his mix with confidence over the past year to date. His on-mound upside and impressive offensive potential make him one of the class’ most exciting talents."

+ Noah Melby, RHP, Brookfield East; Northern Illinois: FROM 8/11/25: "Melby stands in as a long-levered, durable 6-foot-5, 224-pound frame. The recent NIU recruit worked from fluid, high-kick, drop and drive motion, followed by a clean, loose, full-circle arm action from the ¾ slot. Dealing with a three-pitch mix, the fastball was sitting 85-87 mph, firm with late ride, 2200 rpm, and 22.7 max IVB. The curveball was 74-78 mph, with 11-6 shape, slight depth, with 2500 rpm, then the changeup was sitting 81-82 mph with slight arm-side fade. Striking out two during his outing, Melby had presence on the mound, working with confidence and a high tempo."

+ Gavin Weissenburger, OF/RHP, Living Word Lutheran; Wisconsin-Parkside: FROM 8/11/25: "Set to rise big in the next rankings update as one of the top athletes in Wisconsin – he’s a two-way with a very high ceiling. Athletic 6-foot-1, 177-pound frame with twitch and strength. On the mound, he’s an athletic mover with a fluid, repeatable delivery. He works from a medium leg lift into a controlled drop-and-drive motion with slight crossfire, creating a tough angle for hitters. Low ¾ slot with a long, loose arm action. Relied heavily on his fastball that averaged 86.3 and topped out at 88.4 with heavy arm-side run and sink. Mixed in a short, tight slider with gyro shape at 76-78 mph that earned some ugly whiffs. Weissenburger may not have had the results to show for it, but he consistently induced weak contact and generated multiple ground balls. At the plate, Weissenburger was a performer with the bat throughout gameplay, collecting three hits throughout gameplay including a triple and a home run."

+ Joe Meeter, OF, Holmen: FROM 7/30/25: "Presenting an athletic 6-foot-1, 192-pound frame with some upside, Meeter had one of the more impressive workouts during testing day. The right-hander began the day with a 6.65 sec 60-yard dash, reaching a 20.7 mph max run speed with a 30” vertical jump. He then showed easy power at the plate during the hitting portion. He finished with a 100.3 mph max exit velocity in BP, with four balls hit over 100 mph, a 94.7 mph average exit velocity, and a 353-foot max distance. He also would look the part in the outfield with a strong arm at a 91 mph outfield velocity."

+ Colin Murphy, C, Waunakee: FROM 8/11/25: "Athletic receiver behind the plate, showcased a 95 mph max EV during the workout portion of the showcase as well as an 81 catcher velo from the crouch. Balanced stance in the box, short to the ball, strong hands in the swing. He’s one of the strongest and most athletic uncommitted players in Wisconsin’s senior class and he has a strong case as its top overall unsigned backstop too."

+ Clayton Kroschel, OF, Wayland Academy: FROM 2/19/25: "was a name our staff was excited to see at the event and he did not disappoint. Kroschel looked as if he added some size and mass to his frame as he measured 6-foot-1, 187 pounds to his well proportioned and sturdy frame. He then ran an event best 6.79 seconds 60 yard dash showing quick burst and quick turnover once underway. With the bat, Kroschel showed a short hand path that created backspin through the ball as he was peppering line drives effortlessly through the facility. Kroschel’s max exit velocity of 97 mph was second best at the event. From the outfield, Kroschel showed a personal best of 91 mph from a high 3/4 slot with considerable carry and accuracy through the target. On the mound, Kroschel deployed a 3 pitch mix with a late tailing fastball up to 85 mph, a sharp breaking ball and feel for a change up to keep hitters off balance. Overall, it was another impressive look at the junior who is a top ranked 2026 in the state of Wisconsin. Our staff is excited to see his talents on display this spring and summer."

+ Jacob Coopman, LHP, Appleton North; Winona State: FROM 8/11/25: "Coopman struck out four batters in two scoreless innings of work in game, showcasing a repeatable delivery and deceptive arm action out of a 3/4 slot. The fastball would top out at 86 mph with arm-side life and was thrown alongside a 68-70 mph slider with sweeping shape and swing-and-miss tendencies, and a fading low-70s changeup. This was a sharp look at a left-hander who is due to rise up the rankings in our next update."

+ Tanner Buhlmann, LHP, Arrowhead; Wisconsin-Milwaukee: FROM 4/12/25: "Listed at a strong and athletic 5-foot-10, 172 pound frame. Started on the mound and struck out six batters over four shutout innings, walking three batters. Fluid delivery on the mound with feel to locate his entire arsenal in the zone, the fastball worked 82-85 mph with life out of the hand, while spinning a low-70s breaking ball in the zone and a firm heavy changeup in the mid-70s."

+ Kaiden Romens, OF, Hartford Union; Heartland CC: FROM 4/19/25: "Romens would have a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, 3 RBIs, three runs scored, and four walks. The uncommitted junior had a hitterish feel in the box with a loose left-handed swing that took quality cuts throughout the game. The centerfield would also show plus instincts with solid range and a good first step. Athletic 5-foot-7, 163-pound frame with dynamic strength and room for physical development."

+ Owen McLellan, MIF, Shorewood: FROM 3/28/25: "is a toolsy uncommitted infielder in the state’s junior class. The athletic 5-foot-10, 163 pound infielder took a quality round, repeatedly finding the barrel and driving the ball through the middle of the field. The impact ticked up over the offseason reaching 92.3 mph max exit velocity. Defensively, McLellan has a chance to stick on the left-side at the next level, with speed that shows up on the field, easily covering ground, with enough arm strength up to 85 mph."

+ Niko Frangopoulos, OF Arrowhead: FROM 8/11/25: "Frangopoulos would continue to show a premier uncommitted bat. At the plate, the left-handed hitting outfielder showed a wider base while utilizing a medium stride to get into a position of launch with a short, direct bat path with some feel to create length through the zone. Took a quality round of batting practice with a max exit velocity of 99.2 mph and an average of 91.1 mph. Also showed premier bat speed with a max of 86.8 mph and an average of 74.6 mph. Defensively, showed developing routes and a strong arm that was 89 mph during the workout. 5-foot-11, 183-pound frame with present strength. He’s earned to be called one of the top LHHs in the state and he remains uncommitted, currently."

+ Joseph Tamboli, LHP, Sun Prairie East: FROM 4/5/25: "Standing at a proportional and athletic 6-foot, 185 pounds. Got the ball to start, tossed 4.2 innings striking out 11 batters while allowing two hits and two walks, carrying a no-hitter into the fourth. Repeatable delivery on the mound, finding the zone consistently with his entire arsenal. Fluid mover working in sync, locating a low-80s T84 mph fastball throughout the zone with ease. Confident in both his breaking ball and changeup, will throw them in any count and against both handed batters. The breaking ball played in the low-70s with big 2/8 action earning whiffs in the zone, Tamboli threw his changeup with intent at 76-77 mph with different action off the fastball with late diving action at the plate."

+ Sam Manchester, OF, Hudson: FROM 8/11/25: "Manchester would showcase loud tools across the workout. Also showed present foot speed with a 6.68 60-yard dash that offered promise both on the basepaths and on the grass. Twitchy 5-foot-11, 164-pound frame with 9% body fat and top-end strength. + Ben Jones, RHP, Mukwonago: FROM 8/11/25: "continued to show well in front of our scouts, standing in at a physical and strong 6-foot-2, 224-pound frame. Drop and drive, over the top delivery with a lively fastball that plays well up in the zone sitting 83-86 mph (T87) throughout the outing to pair well with a sweeping slider that sat in the mid-70s and earned a number of swing and misses throughout a two inning outing where he struck out six walking three. The pitch mix and physicality makes him an intriguing uncommitted option for schools seeking arms who are currently performing in-game and yet have remaining untapped potential."

+ Matthew Schoenfeldt, MIF, Whitefish Bay: FROM 5/5/25: "Immense ceiling physically, standing at a lean and athletic 6-foot-2, 175 pound frame with longer levers.
