2025 Pacific Northwest State Games - 2028's Quick Hits

Dylan Grenz
Associate Scout

Last week, Prep Baseball PNW hosted the 2025 Pacific Northwest State Games at Heritage High School in Vancouver, Washington. The summer's premier baseball showcase event featured players in the 2026-2028 graduating classes, with many strong showings throughout.

The Pacific Northwest State Games event is a culmination of the year in high school baseball, bringing together some of the area's top prospects. The State Games allow college coaches to see how talent stacks up and recruit future contributors, with over 75 players from last year's event going on to make a college commitment. This year's event featured a great turnout of college coaches across the three days of workouts and gameplay.

Earlier, we released our Statistical Stories from the event, detailing leaders in various metrics, and our Quick Hits, including scouting notes and video on top players. Today, we conclude our series of Quick Hits with the class of 2028. Players are listed alphabetically by last name.

Quick Hits - 2028's

'28 RHP Nolan Barrett (O'Dea)
6'4 athlete has made steady progress throughout multiple looks this year. Generated whiffs with a live FB at 83-85 T85.9 MPH from a lower slot release. Loose, whippy arm action. Worked in both a CH and SL as his offspeed deliveries, the CH at 72-73 MPH and the SL with sweepier shape at 67-69 MPH. Plenty of room to fill in lean frame should lead to more velocity down the road. Exciting arm.

'28 INF Dominic D'Amico (Bainbridge)
Plenty of physicality for underclassman status in 6'2 frame. Strong bat-first type with plus bat speed up to 78.1 MPH. Maintained tight turn and a direct path to contact from the right side to produce loud contact. Peaked with a 97.4 MPH exit velocity, averaging 87.5 MPH. Likely more of a corner INF type defensively in the future with 81 MPH throws across the diamond in this look. 7.15 runner.

'28 INF Evan Guadalupe (Summit)
Twitch and athleticism present in 6'0 frame. Creates heavy separation in his load from the right side of the plate with a near arm bar created. Some feel for the barrel and ability to do damage when on time, peaking with a 94.9 MPH exit velocity and a 358 foot batted ball distance. Smooth glove should stick on the dirt, funneling the ball to belt well and moving with some quickness in either direction. Throws up to 83 MPH across in the workout portion of the event. 7.24 runner.

'28 1B/LHP Trey Holdren (Southridge)
Top-ten ranked prospect in Washington's '28 class displayed standout two-way ability all week. Began his State Games with some of the best and most consistent BP rounds, peaking with a 99.7 MPH and averaging a 95.6 MPH exit velocity. Present power to the gaps in a 6'1 lefty frame. Strong defensive actions for age at 1B, making every play. Filled up the strike zone when on the mound, mixing in a FB/CH/CB arsenal and running his velocity up to 83.3 MPH. Should be one of the more imposing bats & prospects in the area in years to come.

'28 INF/RHP Beau Johnson (Wilsonville)
Compact-framed athlete with a well-rounded game shown throughout the week in Vancouver. Ran a quick 6.93 60-yard dash to kick off his event, paired with throws up to 83 MPH from the outfield. Contact-oriented approach at the plate with a peak exit velocity of 92.4 MPH. Ran his FB up over 80 MPH on the mound from a simple, repeatable delivery and quick fire release. Athleticism stood out.

'28 1B Gregory Johnson (Puyallup)
Ultra-physical 6'2, 225 pound prospect with advanced hit and power tools for his age. Generates plus batspeed with a strong lower half to drive balls out of the yard, both in BP rounds and in-game. Already among the event's best despite his underclassman status with exit velocities up to 99.6 MPH and a peak batted ball distance of 391 feet. Carried over the hot bat into game action with a loud home run to the deep part of the yard. Moves well for size with a 7.35 60-yard dash time. 1B-only type defensively can make the routine play. Standout bat.

'28 OF Mason Malloy (Newport)
Athletic outfielder impressed at an earlier ID look this summer, and carried over with some intriguing tools in Vancouver. Ran a new personal-best 6.97 60-yard dash. Set another new-best with throws up to 86 MPH from the outfield. Moved very well with quick reads defensively, and should be able to play any of the three OF spots moving forward. Righty has a balanced setup and operation at the plate, extending to meet ball out front consistently. More contact-over-power at this point but has the ability to grow into more power with added strength. Drove balls up to 337 feet in BP rounds.

'28 INF Lincoln Moore (Kentlake)
One of the best prospects in the PNW stood out in a big way, delivering arguably the best BP on workout day to go alongside a real exciting glove tool and overall skillset. Left the yard a number of times to the pull side and to LCF, with a max exit velocity of 99.6 MPH and a peak batted ball distance of 372 feet. Stays stacked on a strong backside until a late, sudden slight uphill path through the zone. On the barrel with a 94.1 MPH average EV. Ran a 6.99 60-yard dash time. Should stick at SS with minimal wasted movement and a quick fire release and throws up to 84 MPH across the diamond. Must-follow in years to come.

'28 C Izik Ontiveros (Eastmont)
Twitchy-strong medium-framed athlete who impressed both in-game and in the workout portion of the event. Found multiple barrels to the gaps in-game. Found the sweet spot with ease with a mostly pull approach in BP, peaking with a 94.8 MPH exit velocity and averaging 87.2 MPH. Developing arm strength defensively but enough quickness and a fast transfer to produce a best pop time of 2.00 seconds. Some rawness in overall game but could be an impact player in the future.

'28 INF/RHP Jacob Powell (Franklin Pierce)
Strong two-way showing from 6'1 prospect. Quiet, steady demeanor with confidence shown throughout. FB had ride from a high-slot release, working up to 84.5 MPH and averaging spin rates north of 2350 RPM. CH/SL offspeed combination also carried plus spin rates sitting in the mid-70's. Longer path to contact at the plate from the right side with some present bat speed. Posted exit velocities up to 94.1 MPH and a peak batted ball distance of 347 feet. 7.17 second runner with a longer-limbed frame likely to settle at 3B moving forward. Impressive week.

'28 OF Johnathan Purcell (Moses Lake)
Quick, medium-framed outfielder ran a strong 6.82 60-yard dash to begin his week. The lefty bat then showed promise when connecting, peaking with a 94.6 MPH exit velocity and a max batted ball distance of 343 feet. Strong hands through contact with a firm two-handed finish. Developing arm strength with a high-slot release from the OF. Name to know in the class.

'28 C Hudson Schock (Eastside Catholic)
The Junior Future Games alum showcased some great progression after seeing varsity action in his freshman season. Delivered some of the more consistent BP rounds for his class with a peak exit velocity of 98.3 MPH and an average of 92.7 MPH. Hands stay high throughout the swing with a sudden, twitchy path to contact. Compact setup behind the plate produced a best catcher pop time of 2.04 seconds. Held his own against older competition.

'28 RHP/INF Daniel Sleeter (Peninsula)
The Peninsula two-way player set new bests metrically left and right in Vancouver, impressing the most on the mound. FB played up in the zone, sitting 83-85 T86 with over 2400 RPM on average. Killed spin well on a firm CH at 79-81 MPH, also mixing in a SL at 71-76 MPH. Overpowered hitters at times, and should only continue to improve as strength is added on the mound. Arm strength translated to the INF with 85 MPH throws across. Steady rounds of BP with an average EV of 89.4 MPH. Player to circle.

'28 RHP Sennet Timmermans (Lincoln)
Another top-ten ranked player in his state class who was in attendance at State Games, Timmermans delivered one of the best showings regardless of class on the mound. Worked 3 scoreless frames while striking out 6, dominating with advanced control/command for his age. Long-limbed 6'5 frame moves smoothly downhill with a FB sitting 84-87 T87.8 MPH. Mostly relied on the SL at 75-77 MPH, with the offering flashing as a plus pitch and averaging 2514 RPM. Standout talent and a must-follow in the future.
