Tucson Summer ID: Catcher Reports

This past Saturday, the Prep Baseball Arizona staff hosted it's final Summer ID event with the Tucson Summer ID. This event featured roughly 30 prospects in the 2026–2029 classes and provided a valuable opportunity for young athletes to get quality reps in a structured setting and compete in front of our staff. After some of the standout performances on Saturday, it is clear that the uncommitted talent pool in Arizona is deep.

CATCHER REPORTS
Jacob Arzaga, Desert Ridge (AZ), 2028
Positional Profile: C/SS
Body: 5-8, 159-pounds. Strong, compact build for his age with present strength and some physical maturity, still room to refine as he grows.
Hit: RHH. Even stance with feet slightly open, showing a slight barrel tilt before launch. Line drive approach with consistent barrel accuracy, uses the whole field effectively. 59.6 mph bat speed with 20 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 84.0 mph. 357' max distance.
Arm: RH. C-73 mph.
Defense: 2.03-2.17 pop times. Works from a one-knee setup with a quick catch and release, allowing the ball to travel deep before transferring up. Though footwork can get long with bigger steps.
