VENTURA, CALIF. - The Uncommitted Spotlight Series returns after a jam packed summer of Prep Baseball California events, summer travel baseball, and other opportunities to evaluate players we will be recognizing some of the top remaining uncommitted players around the state. We will be looking at players from the 2026 class and 2027 classes across the upcoming weeks/months.

We invite you to get to know them through the eyes of our Prep Baseball California staff of scouts both through our in person looks at players and/or the data-backed numbers collected at our events with our partnered companies. TrackMan, Blast Motion, and VALD Performance provide comparable data to project and evaluate players. All of these systems come together to give a clear picture at what colleges will get when a players steps onto their campus.

Today, we put the spotlight on a fast rising 2026 player who is sure to join our 2026 California rankings after a strong spring and impressive summer. We are looking at SoCal '26 SS/2B Blake Miller from Westlake High School in Westlake Village, Calif..  The Warriors INF was a top performer on the offensive side for a squad that earned a share of the Marmonte League title and berth in the CIF-SS D2 playoffs. Miller posted a solid .295/.442/.516 slash line during 29 games played in his JR. campaign. He added six doubles, five homers with 28 overall hits on the spring driving in 22 runs and scoring 25 runs. Miller's topped the team in runs scored, doubles, his 22 walks and five SBs were good for first on the Warriors squad. While his average, homers, RBIs, OBP and SLG were all second on the squad.

Miller made his first appearance on the Prep Baseball California platform this summer with a standout showing at the FGT: Malibu event which combined with his loud spring performance brought him a 2025 California State Games invite where he put toether a strong performance over the three days of the event (workout + three games). His consistency of performance combined with a strong overall offensive and defensive profile should have college programs paying close attention to Miller as a piece for the 2026 recruiting classes.

Miller has shown very well on his offensive metrics across both events. A RH hitter he shows quickness in his hands with a 21.2 MPH peak hand speed  while generating high quality bat speeds of 72 MPH with efficient use of his turn in the swing to produce 13.2 Gs of rotational acceleration. Miller's swing profile plays well with his astute feel for being on time at the launch position and finding the barrel at contact with accuracy. He has peaked at 95.3 MPH on his exit velocity playing to the middle to pull side of the field with doubles power through the gaps and the impact/loft in his path to drive a ball out to the pullside (361' max distance) while averaging a strong 86.7 MPH on his exit velocity. His more in-depth data provided by Trackman from his batting practice sessions at both the FGT: Malibu and State Games shows the strength of his present offensive profile. Miller has produced 56% hard hit rate, 56% sweet spot rate from a flatter swing path which generates hard line drive/ground ball contact through the middle to opposite side of the field while lofting the ball to his pull side

Blake is solidly built at 5'11 171.1 lbs. presently and has the room on his frame to add some future strength gains as he continues to mature. His athletic profile is an intriguing one having posted 60 times in the 6.66-6.86 range over his two events with first step quickness and drive (1.5-1.6 10 yard splits with 20-20.6 MPH max run speeds). His arm strength is solid at 80 MPH from the INF dirt, but Miller plays downhill with athleticism in his actions while flashing quickness in his transfer with accuracy that will stick up the middle at 2B long term and if he can add a tick more strength has the chance to potentially handle SS at the next level.

With a solid JR. campaign, impressive overall metrics, consistent performances this summer and room to continue getting better with maturity Miller is a name to be known for the 2026 recruiting classes of college programs eyeing up the middle athletes who have strong offensive profiles.
