On July 15th, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff hosted the Northwest Suburban Summer ID at Wintrust Field in Schaumberg, IL. 60 players participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Illinois staff.
Today, we will be looking at the prospects that stood out to our staff within this Quick Hits story.
HITTERS
OF MJ Castelloni (Fremd, 2028) showcased his upside during his BP round as he displayed a line drive approach while using the whole field. The outfielder clocks in at an athletic 6-foot, 153-pound frame with room to add strength. The left-handed hitter has a twitchy, loose operation. Castelloni had an average batted distance of 169 feet (285 ft. max) with a 60% sweet spot percentage. The incoming Sophomore finished his round with a max exit velocity of 89.8 mph. Defensively, Castelloni showed off his athleticism with a one handed gather into a crow hop while topping out at 79 mph from the outfield.

INF Nathan Cera (Maine South, 2026) had one of the most polished rounds of the event as he creates jump off the barrel. The incoming Senior is listed at an athletic 6-foot, 159-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter has an easy swing with an uphill bat path with loose hands while using the whole field. Cera had an average exit velocity of 87.8 mph (95.7 mph max EV) with an average distance of 158 feet (330 ft. max). His easy swing had an average bat speed of 71.2 mph (77 mph max) with an average hand speed of 21.3 mph (22.5 mph max). Defensively, Cera showed athletic and easy movement with a loose arm action from multiple arm slots while having an 85 mph infield velocity.

OF Isaac Stoelinga (Whitney Young, 2027) showed off twitch and bat speed with his long levers. The outfielder is listed at an athletic 6-foot-2, 181-pound frame with room to add strength. The left-handed hitter displayed a loose uphill batpath while he looked to elevate the ball with a gap-to-gap approach. Stoelinga had an average batted ball distance of 198 feet (341ft. max) with an average exit velocity of 87.2 mph (94.9 mph max EV). Stoelinga put up an advanced average hand speed of 21.4 mph while maxing out at 22.6 mph. In the field, Stoelinga showed a short, loose arm action from a ¾ slot with an outfield velocity of 84 mph.

C Drew Whitney (Barrington, 2028) had the top round of BP of the event as he displayed an advanced swing. The catcher is listed at a strong 6-foot-2, 190-pound frame. The left-handed hitter has an uphill bat path while looking to lift the ball with loose hands. The ball jumps off his barrel with a pull-side approach. His average batted ball distance was an impressive 275 feet while having a max distance of 370 feet. Whitney’s max exit velocity was 99.3 mph with an average hand speed of 22.5 mph (23.6 mph max).

OF Jack Gonzalez (Glenbrook South, 2027) showed off the top athleticism of the event. Gonzalez ran an event best 6.82 60 time while having a vertical jump of 25.50 inches. The outfielder is listed as an athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed hitter creates extension through contact with a loose, uphill bat path while having a line drive approach. Gonzalez had an average batted ball distance of 224 feet (345 ft. max) while having a max exit velocity of 94.9 mph. He had an average hand speed of 23 mph (24 mph max) while having an average bat speed of 70.8 mph (73 mph max). Defensively, the outfielder showed smooth, clean actions with a loose, compact arm action from a high ¾ slot while having an outfield velocity of 81 mph.

RHP Maddux Miller (Jacobs, 2027) had one of the top pitching performances of the event as he displayed athleticism on the mound. The pitcher is listed at an athletic 6-foot-2, 177-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed pitcher is an athletic mover with a controlled tempo while his stride works in-line with a medium leg-lift into balance point. He has a clean, loose arm action from a ¾ arm slot with whip out front. His fastball has slight arm-side run while sitting 82.1-84.8 mph and topping out at 85.2 mph. RHP Logan Johnson (Richmond-Burton, 2026) had the most explosive bullpen of the event. The pitcher is listed at a strong 6-foot-3, 219-pound frame. The right-handed pitcher has a strong, powerful delivery while getting into his back leg and driving down the mound in-line. He has a longer reach in the back with a slightly high ¾ arm slot. His fastball plays with running action while sitting 82-85 mph and topped out at 86.4 mph with an average spin rate of 2179 RPM (2348 RPM max). His curveball was thrown with intent while having an 11/5 shape and sat 69-73 mph. Johnson rounded out his pitch-mix with a changeup that sat 70-73 mph while he kept it low.
RHP Renzo Sansonetti (Jones College Prep, 2026) showcased an advanced four-pitch mix on the mound. The pitcher is listed at an athletic 5-foot-11, 162-pound frame with room to add strength. The right-handed pitcher has a loose, athletic delivery while he creates layback at footstrike and works in-line. Clean, athletic arm action from a ¾ arm slot with arm-speed. His fastball jumps out of his hand with carry while sitting 83-85 mph and topped out at 86.3 mph. The pitch had an average spin rate of 2421 RPM (2533 RPM max) with an average induced vertical break of 18.2 inches (19.9 inches max). Sansonetti’s slider sat 72-75 mph while having a 10/4 shape with feel. The pitch had an average horizontal movement of -12.7 inches (-18.6 inches max) while having an average spin rate of 2528 RPM (2659 RPM max). His changeup showed a hard dive to his arm-side while having feel under the zone. The pitch sat 71-74 mph with an average horizontal movement of 14.6 inches (16.5 inches max). Sansonetti rounded out his pitch-mix with a sharp cutter that sat in the mid-70s.
