Oregon Rankings Summer Update - Class of 2026

Dylan Grenz

This summer, Prep Baseball Oregon travelled across the state, gaining valuable looks at some of the top high school talent in the area. Whether it was in a showcase or a gameplay environment, many players showed significant development in their overall skillsets.

Over the next several weeks, we will be unveiling our end of summer player rankings updates. Player rankings are a comprehensive and ever-evolving list, using a mixture of information gathered from our events, in-game looks, present tools, and future projection.

We begin our series of rankings updates with the Class of 2026 Rankings. Below are some of the key takeaways from the latest update.

Stay tuned in the coming weeks for updates to the 2027's and 2028's rankings lists.

Saunders Takes Over #1 Spot

Grady Saunders RHP / SS / Thurston, OR / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 1

The Oregon State commit takes the top spot in Oregon's 2026 rankings after several strong summer looks. Saunders was electric when facing some of the top competition in the country at Area Codes, sitting 93-95 with life. The righty filled up the zone early, allowing his secondary offerings to play late in counts. Saunders showed well again at the PNW Scout Games event, where he threw against some of the top HS talent in the Pacific Northwest. Below are two write-ups from Prep Baseball staff after the Scout Games.

From 8/19/25... "The Thurston arm had been generating buzz after great outings in the spring and at Area Codes recently, and despite some mixed outcomes this weekend, still flashed premium stuff on the mound. Some life on the FB at 89-93 MPH thanks to aggressive, late intent with arm speed. Tight SL at 78-79 MPH was main offspeed offering, with a low to mid 80's CH used sparingly. Struck out 3 across his 3 innings of work. Athletic mover with some room to fill in 6'2 frame."

From 8/19/25... "A longstanding top prospect from Oregon, Saunders finished the summer stretch with a strong run of outings and established a higher ceiling for himself as he ran the FB up to 94-95 on some looks. Possesses the makings of an athletic 3 pitch starter who is capable of holding his stuff thanks to his size and overall athelticism. There's a strong chance we still continue to see some development and gains when the 2026 season rolls around. Saunders can really attack the glove side with a lively FB and powerful SL when thrown at it's best. As mentioned earlier, most prep arms don't need the CH often but given his delivery and ability to control the FB, it should be a natural progression to feature the CH more. Between the athleticism, velocity and 3 potential plus pitches, we're pretty bullish on the potential of Saunders moving forward."

New Faces in the Top Ten

Zack Hankins LHP / 1B / Taft, OR / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 7

The lefty has skyrocketed up our latest rankings update after an exceptional 2025, dominating for 3A Taft High School in the spring before showing well on the showcase circuit this summer. Hankins' spring was highlighted by winning our Pitcher of the Week award after a CG shutout with 18 K's. The lefty went on to earn 3A Pitcher OTY in Oregon at the end of his spring. The 6'2 arm faced a different challenge when facing higher level competition this summer and the stuff continued to trend upward, resulting in a recent commitment to the University of Oregon.

From 5/13/25... "Hankins threw 7 innings, allowing just 1 hit while striking out an incredible 18 batters. The Taft High School product walked two and gave up no runs in a complete game victory. The lefty changes speeds well with a FB into the mid-80's and a CH/SL combination in the mid-70's. Works from a shorter extension and land with some deception in a lower slot delivery. Hankins was most recently seen at PNW Preseason All-State this winter."

Graeme Warner-McGee OF / RHP / Lincoln, OR / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 10

Few players have produced more metrically than Warner-McGee this year, who was first seen at PNW Preseason All-State this winter, and later at PNW State Games this summer. The Lincoln High School product has continued to show steady improvements in recent looks, with a real two-way ability at the next level. Warner-McGee paired his excellent workout numbers with a home run and several other productive at-bats in-game at State Games. The righty is unquestionably one of the top remaining uncommitted 2026's in Oregon.

From 8/6/25... "The 6'3 athlete has real game-changing tools when it clicks, showcased by exit velocities up to 101.6 MPH in BP rounds and a 60-time of 6.90 seconds. Profiles well in a corner with a strong power tool and some arm strength. Carried his momentum into gameplay with a towering home run to LCF, carrying a quick bat through the zone. Also showed upside on the mound, sitting 83-86 MPH with some of the highest spin rates of any FB at the event, peaking at 2483 RPM. Could spin the breaker as well with an 11/5 shape."

More Summer Standouts

Jackson Ashley LHP / 1B / OREGON CITY, OR / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 20

Ashley was a major standout seen multiple times across the summer, circled as a must-follow after an early summer showing at the PNW Summer ID. The Oregon City HS arm presents a real uncomfortable at bat, working through an up-tempo delivery with a near sidearm release from the left side. Ashley's long levers move with fluidity and more velocity could come down the line. The lefty showed similar stuff at PNW State Games and threw well at the PNW Scout Games, facing some top-end competition at both events. Ashley proved his value as a high-upside uncommitted arm to watch moving forward.

From 5/26/25... "Arguably the biggest standout performance of the event, Ashley impressed all day, capping the day with a stellar bullpen session. High-waisted 6'4 frame moves well and ran a 6.93 second 60-yard dash. FB touched 86 MPH from the left side, throwing from a lower 3/4 slot cross-body fire with some natural run. SL flashed at times to the glove side at 75-77 MPH with an average of over 2300 RPM. Potential impact arm with continued development, showed ability to adjust as he went on the mound. Posted a peak exit velocity of 95.8 MPH at the plate as well."

Rylan Metz OF / RHP / Lakeridge, OR / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 26

The athletic 6'1 outfielder showed tremendous growth since a look in the winter, posting some exceptional numbers at the Portland Summer ID and later at PNW State Games. Metz arries a heavier barrel through the zone with a longer, loopy path resulting in hard contact. Ability to punish baseballs when he gets the ball in the air, seen with a 380 foot max batted ball distance and exit velocities over 101 MPH this summer. Metz should be another uncommitted player to circle, with a legitimate chance to play any of the three OF spots at the collegiate level.

From 6/21/25... "One of the more tooled up performances we’ve seen at a workout recently. 6’1. 180 lb athlete with a wide upper half and lean strength throughout. Ran a 6.76 in the 60 and got up to 20.4 mph peak speed. Outfield profile with arm strength at 80 mph from a tight, short arm slot. Offensively was up to 101.5 mph with his exit velocity and showed some exceptional power to his pull-side. Short, direct bath to the ball with big time swing metrics and rotational power. Also worked in a 3 pitch mix on the mound with a FB/SL/CH combination that can fill up the zone. High upside athlete to keep an eye on."

Elliot Raiton RHP / OF / Grant, OR / 2026

Rankings  StateRank: 28

Raiton had an exceptional spring season for 6A runner up Grant High School, hitting .411 with 6 home runs in the middle of the Generals order. The 6'0 athlete then showed well at PNW State Games, getting to his power more consistently from the right side with an ability to hit to all fields. Raiton also showed upside on the mound, retiring some quality hitters quickly with a 3-pitch mix. If the righty can be in the zone, he has a real chance to stick both at the plate and on the mound at the next level, but still figures to be a productive bat for the forseeable future.

From 8/6/25... "Two-way player looked the part all week, providing some quick innings on the mound and setting personal bests metrically across the board. Sat 82-84 MPH on the mound with some ride on the FB and a CH/CB offspeed combination. On the barrel consistently from the right side with a peak exit velocity of 92.5 MPH and batted ball distance of 340 feet. 6.96 runner with 83 MPH throws from the OF."
