2025 Colorado State Games: Quick Hits

On August 9-10th, the Prep Baseball Colorado staff hosted this year's annual Colorado State Games at Metro State University in Denver! This event featured ~80 prospects from the 2026-2029 classes and allowed our staff an opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players in attendance, and during gameplay. Today we'll continue our deep dive into the data collected at this event within this 'Quick Hits' story featuring 20+ standout prospects from the games.

Jack Reed SS / RHP / Battle Mountain, CO / 2026Reed comes in at 5'11'' / 166 Ibs with some actively developing strength & athleticism. During this year's State Games, Reed posted an 89 mph infield throwing velocity (top event velo.), a 97.4 mph top exit velocity (364 ft. max batted ball distance), and a 7.13 60-yard dash time. Reed followed up his strong showcase portion with a belted a triple during the games which turned into a hustle inside-the-park homerun for the uncommitted infielder. We have also seen Reed post a fastball at 88 mph on the mound during past event bullpens. Reed is an intriguing available player with a toolset worth keeping a close eye on.

Ethan Elmore 3B / RHP / Mead High School, CO / 2027Rankings StateRank: 117 / POS: 8
Elmore is a 6-foot / 211 Ibs infielder/right-handed pitcher who led this event in Trackman exit velocity at 101.6 mph. The uncommitted junior had one of the better BP rounds of the day while also getting up to a 372 ft. max batted ball distance with a 75 mph bat speed. Elmore profiles well at 3B with some two-way upside thanks to his fastball around 83 mph. As a sophomore this spring, Elmore hit .309 with 2 doubles, a triple, and a HR.

Karter Vega-Hernandez SS / 2B / Fountain-Fort Carson, CO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 52 / POS: 15
Karter brings some upside in many ways with his game as showcased by his 6.76 60-yard dash time, 86 mph infield throwing velocity, 92 mph exit velocity, and a fastball up to 87 mph on the mound. The uncommitted senior has flashed the ability to play up the middle in the infield while there is some pitchability and overall feel on the mound with a quick arm. The wiry 5'8'' / 150 Ibs frame on Karter plays bigger than expected and should continue to progress well as he gets stronger at the next level.

Aiden Solano RHP / OF / University Schools, CO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 28 / POS: 4
Solano is a 6'2'' / 176 Ibs underclassman who presented quite well during the State Games this year. During gameplay, Solano collected plenty of barrels with some easy pop out of his long levered frame. On the mound, Solano was up to 83 mph with a serviceable changeup and curveball mix. Solano has a higher ceiling as he progresses and already boasts a 91.3 mph top exit velocity and an 83 mph outfield throwing velocity as well.

Brody Kenshalo 1B / RHP / Cherokee Trail, CO / 2026Rankings StateRank: 174 / POS: 16
Kenshalo took some quality hacks from the left-side during the games while also getting up to a 101 mph top exit velocity during the BP portion of the showcase. The uncommitted senior comes with a 7.04 60-yard dash time out of a 5'11'' / 186 Ibs frame.

Brody Duran SS / 2B / University, CO / 2028Rankings StateRank: 37 / POS: 9
Duran hit .360 full-time as a freshman this spring and parlayed that into a strong showing during this year's State Games. The middle-infielder posted a 6.91 60-yard dash time, a 98.3 mph top exit velocity (90 mph average), and an 80 mph infield throwing velocity. Duran has a high-waisted 5'9'' frame that comes with a higher ceiling as long as his tools continue to develop and he gets bigger/stronger.
