Over the weekend of August 9th, the PB Texas staff traveled to Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, to host the 2025 TX/LA Super Sophomore Games, an event for 2028 prospects.

Nearly 50 players from the state of Texas made their way to Texas A&M this past weekend and participated in a pro-style workout, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff, while also playing two games against 2028 prospects from the state of Louisiana.

We have already released a Statistical Analysis for this event, highlighting the top performers in the more traditional stat categories. Today, we will be going through our scouting takeaways from the event’s top performers.

QUICK HITS

A strong group of 2028 grads showcased tools both in workout and game action. The 60-yard dash was run on grass. For context: a 6.9 or better projects as a plus run tool in the future. All throwing grades are based on HS average. Where noted, “plus raw” refers to professional-level raw tools, not high school.

Deacon Carpenter | INF | Sulphur Springs | 5’10” 160
Athletic frame with room for added strength. Solid defensive actions with avg HS arm strength. Compact, line-drive swing with bat quickness. Projects as a future plus runner. Confident in the box, competes well in-game.

Daxton Price | CF/LHP | Mt. Pleasant | 5’10” 157
Athletic two-way player with a frame that will hold more strength. Posted 6.97 60 and 4.3 down the line, projecting as a future plus runner. Plus defensive potential in CF with range. Advanced approach at the plate with zone discipline; power to come.
On the mound, shows command and control from the left side. FB up to 87 with downhill plane. Flashed a plus CB at 2700+ spin.

Tony Ciurca | INF/RHP | Clear Falls | 5’11” 159
Strong frame projection. 7.10 60 with future plus run potential. Sure-handed defender who will stay in the middle infield; showed range and body control. Quality contact in-game.
On the mound, repeats delivery, attacks the zone. FB up to 87 with arm-side life and carry. Confident working inside. CB shows depth; third pitch not seen.

Parker Legh-Page | INF | Cypress Ranch | 5’10” 165
Compact, strong build with more strength to come. Solid infield actions, above avg HS arm. Balanced swing with bat speed, finds barrel. Quality ABs in-game with two hard-hit balls. 7.14 60 with potential to be a plus runner.

Nate May | INF | Episcopal School of Dallas | 5’10” 167
Athletic build with some present strength. 6.96 60, plus runner future. Steady infield actions, makes plays; arm strength must improve. Contact-oriented swing producing line drives.

Lucas Strawn | RHP/OF | Summer Creek | 6’0” 170
FB up to 88 with tail/sink, effective up in the zone. Flashes a solid slider. Projectable build with strength gains ahead. 7.19 60, chance to develop into plus runner. Moves well in OF with abv avg HS raw arm strength. Quality ABs with avg bat speed.

JJ Thompson | OF | Lubbock Cooper Liberty | 5’8” 167
Compact build with present lower strength. 7.19 60 here but 6.79 at prior event; plus runner future. Covers ground in OF with BA arm strength. Aggressive approach, drives balls to all fields; multiple hits in-game.

Mateo Rodriguez | RHP | Cornerstone Christian | 5’9” 174
Solid, stocky build. FB up to 89 with arm-side tail; fearless attacking inside. CH shows action and deception. Flashes a slider with spin, though release can be inconsistent. Competitor on the mound.

Milton Watkin | OF | Ridge Point | 5’8” 180
Strong lower half. 7.01 60, projects as a plus runner. Steady defender capable in all three OF spots. Avg raw HS arm. Quality setup at the plate; 3 hits to RF in-game, including a double.

Keaton Jeffcoat | INF | Willis | 5’10” 150
Lean build with room for needed strength. 7.15 60 here, 6.88 in past on turf; plus runner future. Smooth defender with avg HS arm. Contact-driven approach with multiple hits, including a double.

Aidan Gonzalez | INF | Chisholm Trail | 5’8” 150
Athletic build, will benefit from strength gains. 7.14 60. Sound SS actions with range and body control. Short, direct swing geared to contact.

Landon Bonner | INF | Hebron | 5’8” 149
Quick-twitch athlete. 6.78 60, 4.29 down the line; plus runner now with more speed possible. Steady defensive actions; fringe avg HS arm strength but arm works. Confident left-side bat with pull-side power emerging. Plays with energy.

Archer Miller | C | Canyon Lake | 5’11” 148
Projectable frame. 7.20 60. Pop times as low as 1.95; plus HS raw arm. Blocks well; receiving still developing. Quality barrel feel, power will come.

Reid Overstreet | LHP | Rockwall | 6’0” 175
Athletic build. FB shows arm-side tail and occasional sink. Slider flashes depth; CH with tail/sink and developing deception. Clean delivery.

Brandon Pace | INF | La Porte | 5’8” 182
Solid build. 7.27 60, projects to be avg runner. Steady defender with avg HS arm. Pull-side pop now with more to come.

AJ Bonnette | LHP/1B | Southlake Carroll | 5’10” 193
Solid lower half strength. Four-pitch mix with FB up to 87 (arm-side tail), cutter with short break, CB with depth and spin, and CH with turnover action. Polished, with more development ahead.

Travis Fielder | INF | Ridge Point | 5’11” 171
Projectable athlete with some present lower strength. 6.94 60; plus runner future. Good feet/hands in the field. Compact swing, drove balls hard in-game, including a hustle double.

Hudson Brown | OF/1B | China Spring | 6’0” 190
Athletic build with strong lower half. 6.89 60 at prior event; plus runner future. Reads well in OF, can play all three spots. Avg raw HS arm. Solid hitter with ability to impact baseball.

Cullen Scott | 3B/RHP | Melissa | 6’3” 200
Physical, athletic frame with present strength. On mound, repeats delivery; FB up to 91 (seen 95) with tail/sink. CB with 2400 spin, feel for pitch. Solid strike thrower. At 3B, moves well with plenty of arm. Plus raw future power; legitimate two-way prospect.

Yates Ashley | LHP | Katy | 6’3” 205
Tall, projectable build. Repeats delivery. FB up to 88 with arm-side tail. Slider with short cut action; CB with slurvy break. Strike thrower with feel to pitch.

Christopher Racey | 1B | Ridge Point | 6’0” 231
Strong, thick build. 7.39 60. Heavy barrel with hard contact, including a double off the wall. Moves well at 1B with avg HS arm.

Bo Jones | 1B | Melissa | 6’1” 212
Big frame with present strength; more to come. 7.24 60, chance to be avg runner. Best bat speed at the event by a wide margin. Solid hit approach; impacts baseball. Athletic for size.

Zachary Barnes | 3B | Rockwall | 6’0” 194
Strong frame with room to add more. Consistent hard contact in-game and in BP (100.1 EV). Feet work defensively; avg HS arm.
