College Station, TX - The Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to College Station, TX for the inaugural Texas/Louisiana Super Sophomore Games, which was held on August 9-10, 2025 at Texas A&M.  This invite-only event featured some of the top prospects in the 2028 class from Texas and Louisiana.  Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion.  After the workout, each Louisiana and Texas player were able to participate in two games, and each pitcher threw live against hitters with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their pitching data and metrics.  Below, we take a look at some of the top Louisiana Blast Motion hitting metrics from this past weekend's event.

HAND SPEED (PEAK & AVERAGE)

Peak Hand Speed: The observed maximum speed as measured on the handle of the bat (measured six inches from the knob of the bat). Peak Hand Speed will occur prior to the moment of impact, very close to the commit time in the swing when the wrists unhinge.

 

BAT SPEED (MAX & AVERAGE)

Bat Speed: The observed speed of the sweet spot of the bat at impact. The sweet spot of the bat is measured six inches from the tip of the bat.

 

ROTATIONAL ACCELERATION (PEAK & AVERAGE)

Body Rotation: A swing that has the appropriate relative contributions of body and bat rotations is an efficient and Powerful swing that maintains proper sequencing. An efficient baseball swing is one in which the body creates the initial movements, which is then transferred to the arms and out to the bat, thereby maximizing Bat Speed through this proximal-to-distal kinematic sequencing movement pattern.
