Quick Hits: 2025 Texas/Louisiana Super Sophomore Games
August 12, 2025
College Station, TX - The Prep Baseball Louisiana staff traveled to College Station, TX for the inaugural Texas/Louisiana Super Sophomore Games, which was held on August 9-10, 2025 at Texas A&M. This invite-only event featured some of the top prospects in the 2028 class from Texas and Louisiana. Each participant went through a pro-style workout that consisted of running a laser-timed 60 yard dash using Vald Performance, defensive evaluations, and batting practice using Trackman Baseball and Blast Motion. After the workout, each Louisiana and Texas player were able to participate in two games, and each pitcher threw live against hitters with Trackman Baseball running to receive all of their pitching data and metrics. Below, we take a look at some of the top Louisiana performers from this past weekend's event.

Brock Blessington RHP / OF / Sam Houston, LA / 20286-foot-3, 185-pound athletic, wiry frame with considerable room to add strength. The Sam Houston product is a name to keep a close eye on over the next 12 months leading into the August 1st recruiting period. He works with a loose, easy arm stroke and delivers from a near over-the-top slot with a 6.5’ release height, allowing him to generate excellent downhill plane on an 87–90 mph fastball. Showed the ability to consistently land a 72–74 mph curveball for strikes, a pitch that should continue to sharpen as he matures. His most intriguing secondary was a spin-killing “kick” changeup that regularly posted spin rates below 1,000 rpm. With his effortless operation, present pitch mix, and a frame that’s far from physical maturity, there’s plenty of reason to project significant gains in the near future.

Paul Dufrene RHP / 3B / John Curtis Christian, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 33 / POS: 9
The John Curtis Christian product showcased some of the highest upside at last weekend’s event at Texas A&M. Working through a quick, athletic delivery, Dufrene employs a lightning-fast arm action to deliver from a high three-quarter slot. He featured both a four-seam and two-seam fastball in the 84–88 mph range, generating steep downhill plane on the pitch. His 75–78 mph slider was a legitimate put-away offering, tunneling effectively off the fastball with sharp, late bite down in the zone. With his 6-foot-4, 175-pound frame still far from physical maturity, Dufrene possesses an extremely high ceiling and the potential for significant velocity and pitch-shape gains in the near future.

Tanner Conley LHP / 1B / Fontainebleau, LA / 2028The state’s top-ranked player turned in a highly productive weekend at the Texas/Louisiana Super Sophomore Games at Texas A&M. Conley went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate on Day 1, producing three quality at-bats and driving in three runs. On Sunday morning, the Fontainebleau product got the start on the mound and was equally impressive. Working from a simple, repeatable delivery, he used a compact arm stroke to deliver from a three-quarter slot. His 84–86 mph fastball featured late, arm-side life, allowing him to challenge hitters in the zone. Conley also showed feel for a 76–78 mph slider, landing it for strikes early in counts and burying it with two strikes for swing-and-miss. Against right-handed hitters, he demonstrated confidence in a 79–80 mph changeup, giving him a complete three-pitch mix and cementing his status as one of the premier two-way talents in the state.

Reis Wascom RHP / OF / Catholic, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 24 / POS: 6
Wascom impressed at our Top Prospect Games in June, and he carried that momentum into last weekend’s Texas/Louisiana Super Sophomore Games. At the plate, he delivered the best overall in-game performance of the event, collecting multiple hits and putting together several quality at-bats. The Catholic (BR) product showed good strike-zone discipline and strong bat-to-ball skills. Where he truly raised eyebrows, however, was on the mound. Working from the first-base side of the rubber, Wascom moves through a gradual, controlled build-up before dropping into his lower half and driving down the mound. He uses a short, quick arm action to deliver from a three-quarter slot with a low release height of 4.7 feet, creating tough angles for hitters. His fastball sat 83–85 mph with late arm-side run, and he showed no hesitation in challenging right-handed hitters on the inner-half of the plate. His separator is a sweeping 72–74 mph slider with elite spin (averaging 2,710 rpm) that he can both land for strikes and bury for chase swings. He rounds out his arsenal with a 76–78 mph changeup that he can kill spin on, giving him a well-rounded three-pitch mix and considerable upside moving forward.

Kannon Keiser SS / RHP / Sam Houston, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 18 / POS: 3
The Sam Houston product plays far bigger than his 5-foot-6, 151-pound frame suggests. Keiser was one of the most enjoyable players to watch last weekend, bringing an infectious energy and a visible confidence to the field. He went 2-for-2 on Day 1, producing three quality at-bats and creating constant pressure on the basepaths. Defensively, he was rock-solid at both second base and shortstop, showing comfort and accuracy when throwing on the run and from multiple arm slots. Keiser is more than the sum of his parts — the type of player who elevates those around him. Simply put, he’s a winning player in every sense of the word.

Quinn Fiasconaro C / RHP / Sam Houston, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 12 / POS: 2
The former Junior Future Gamer was on fire at the plate last weekend, as he went a perfect 3-for-3 in his first game at the Texas/Louisiana Super Sophomore Games. A physical 6-0, 200-pound right-handed hitter, Fiasconaro uses a strong lower-half to turn the barrel to contact while staying flat through extension. With two strikes, he widens out and takes the stride out of his load which allows him to be more accurate with the barrel. He also showed some of the best arm strength on the weekend, as he ran it up to 92 mph from the outfield.

Sawyer Shane 3B / RHP / Fontainebleau, LA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 3
5-11, 177-pound medium build and athletic frame with a strong lower-half. The Fontainebleau product was another Louisiana arm that had a really nice showing last weekend at Texas A&M. Shane works off the first base side of the rubber and strides slightly closed which allows him to hide the baseball well against opposing hitters. His 85-89 mph fastball stayed true through the zone with some life, but his 73-74 mph slider was the real difference maker, as he was able to land the pitch whenever he wanted, and it showed above average spin in the 2403-2530 rpm range.
