Senior Future Games: Quick Hits

Team South Plains made a strong impression at the Prep Baseball Senior Future Games, showcasing a deep group of uncommitted talent from Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. Below, we will highlight some of the bigger standouts from the Lonestar State that played on Team South Plains.
We have already released a Statistical Analysis on this group, highlighting the top performers in the more traditional stat categories.

Griffin Bourland, RHS, VR Eaton HS, RHP 6’6 190
Great build/frame to add strength. Solid delivery and arm action. FB 91-94 showing avg life, come back life to glove side present. FB with carry up in zone. SL 80-82, CB 78 both showing ability to get swing and miss. Change 82-84 with action, showing developing deception. Prospect, Low Follow. Will thrower harder, feel for secondary developing. Was around the zone in his outing.
Jaxon McKnight, C/3B, Atasocita HS, R/R 5’8 172
Good build/frame to add strength. Defensively did solid job of receiving. Blocked well. Did not get pop time in game, 1.76-1.91 in workout. Hitter with short path to baseball with opportunities present to firm approach. Puts ball in play, hit over power. Like the ability behind the plate and short swing.
Nicholas Smith, MID INF, Mansfield Timberview, R/R 5’9 180
Great build to add strength. 6.94 60 yd, athleticism present with body control and agility. Actions present in the middle, moves well around the bag. Solid hit approach, line drive contact with ability to leave yard to pull side. Continues to improve his game. Makes plays, shows ability to hit. Versatility.
Daylen Foor, INF, Tompkins HS, R/R 5’10 175
Will add strength in future, solid build now. Moves well, 7.06 60 yd. Defensively has versatility, can play anywhere on the infield. Nice actions present. Fair hit approach, gets little uphill with path, does show some pull side power. Hit over power type combo in future. Has just enough pull side power to get him in trouble. Player with versatility, hit/avg upside with approach work.
Ty Higginbotham, LHP, Atasocita HS, L/L 5’11 175
Good build to add strength. Pitch ability LH’r. Repeats delivery and arm action. FB 84-87, worked both sides of plate, showing tail, tail/sink to arm side. Feel for CB present, 72-76 ability to manipulate. Change 78-79 with slight fade, fair deception. Strikes with ability manipulate breaking ball. FB will continue to firm, life present. Will continue to develop.
Carter Hoffman, LHS, Wichita Falls Memorial HS, L/L 5’11 170
Good build/frame, will add strength. Solid delivery. Long arm action, hooker, gets out of it fine. FB 84-88, shows some sink down and tail action. Avg breaking ball when landed, can get swing and miss. 71-76 up to 2500 spin. Change is developing pitch, tailing action. LHS in future. Look for velocity to continue to develop, K/out pitch in firming CB. Change will improve.
Chase Pearrow, INF, Waxahatchie HS, R/R 5’11 175
Will add strength, solid build. Actions present on defense, shows arm strength with carry across. 7.04 60 yd. Solid setup, aggressive swinger with slight length to swing. Aggressive swinger, will have ability to leave to pull side. Best swing when working middle of field.
Ryan Steele, CF/OF, Victoria East HS, R/R 6’1 195
Well proportioned build. WAA runner with sub 6.5 60 yd. Range in CF present, moves well to baseball. Solid set up, swing path can be firmed. Would love to see more line drive approach with shorter swing path and middle of field approach. Like the bat speed, athletic, classic upside player.
Tanner Drda, RHP/OF, Memorial HS, R/R 6’2 195
Good build/frame, showing some now strength, can add. Defensively steady in OF. Profiles as corner guy. Avg HS raw arm strength now. Long swing power present. Showed ability to leave to all fields with height and distance. Will chase pitches at times.
RHP repeated delivery and arm action. FB 86-91 shows arm side tailing action present. Slider 77-80 with ability to vary action. Fair spin present. Shotgun approach to strike zone.
2 way player with both upside to both bat/power combo and velocity on the mound.
Tyler Ramos, C/1B, Lutheran South Academy, R/R 6’2 205
Solid build/frame with ability to add increased strength. Solid raw arm strength with nice pop times in workout of 1.78-1.82. Showed 2.01 pop time in game. Received well, played hard. Shows avg bat speed with length and scoop path. Showed some pull side power developing. Player who will continue to develop.
Canon Lightfoot, INF, Brock HS, L/R 6’0 180 | Panola JC commit
Solid build with room to add more strength. Defensively shows actions, ability to play all over infield, versatility present. Hit over power. Shows location and pitch recognition and ability to handle bat. Will take what the pitcher is giving. Line drive/gap to gap hitter. Knows the game, competes.
