Central Illinois Summer ID: Positional Analysis

On Tuesday, July 8th, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff traveled to the Corn Crib in Normal, Illinois for the Central Illinois Summer ID. This open event was host to nearly 60 players, mostly from the central region of the state, and it consistently gives our staff a strong look at the talent the area has to offer.

Today, we are starting our post-event rollout with a look at every single position player from the day, along with a top-5 ranking of who our staff thought showed the best in the workout, found below.

Top Position Players

1. Parker Roop, Normal University (IL), 2027
Positional Profile: SS/RHP
Body: 6-1, 160 pounds.
Hit: LHH. Tall, open stance, toe-tap trigger, long stride. Fluid, easy swing, loose hands, slightly uphill path, hard-contact throughout, middle/pull-side approach. 68.8 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 96 mph max exit velocity (86.7 avg.); 332-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 84.00 mph. Loose arm, 3/4 slot.
Defense: Smooth defender, plays with fluid footwork, gets around the baseball, soft hands and clean release.
Athletic Testing: 7.14 runner in the 60-yard dash; 24.90-inch max vertical jump.
