Kansas Summer Rankings Update: Class of 2026

Andy Urban
Regional Supervisor

As the summer season comes to a close, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff has once again updated the state’s 2026 rankings. We have one of our biggest updates to date after our loaded tournaments and showcase season. We saw over 150 talented juniors, with more than 30 new names making their rankings debut.

IIt is important to note that in an update this large, there are players who may decline in total rank—even with improvement and passing some peers—simply due to the number of names added. For an in-depth look at how we put our rankings together, click click HERE.

Notable changes to these rankings include prolific risers and seven newcomers in the top 100.

Risers

Check out the top 5 ranked biggest risers.

James Forgy RHP / C / St Thomas Aquinas, KS / 2026

The right-hander had a tremendous summer campaign for Building Champions on the mound, showing improvements not only in command but also in velocity. He often worked into the low 90s, mixing in a firm slider and changeup, and showcased a low-effort starter’s delivery. Forgy is up 22 spots in these rankings.

Aven Woods 1B / C / Chapman, KS / 2026

Easily one of the most physical prospects in the state, Woods had a red-hot summer at the plate, producing some of the highest exit velocities we’ve ever recorded. The recent Johnson County commit climbs nearly 100 spots in these rankings.

Manny Myers OF / LHP / Mulvane, KS / 2026

Up 45 spots in these rankings, Myers has long been a skilled player, but his added strength and athleticism—both in the outfield and on the mound—have elevated him into one of the top uncommitted players in the state.

Gavin Short OF / LHP / Maize, KS / 2026

One of the top performers at the uber-talented Super Senior Games, Short rises 12 spots in these rankings as he continues to prove he has one of the best hit tools in the state.

James Quance SS / RHP / Shawnee Mission East, KS / 2026

Quance showed a huge velocity spike at the Building Champions Scout Day. Not just a flash in the pan, the right-hander continued to sit in the upper 80s and touch 90 throughout the summer. Quance climbs 50 spots in these rankings.

Newcomers

Check out the top five newcomers to the rankings

Daxton Minton RHP / SS / Great Bend , KS / 2026

After a huge spring for Great Bend, Menton put on a show at the Wichita Summer ID, pounding the zone with a fastball sitting in the upper 80s while mixing in a curveball and changeup.

Josh Tingey LHP / 1B / Blue Valley Southwest, KS / 2026

The 6-foot-5 left-hander is the picture of projection. Already sitting in the mid-80s, Tingey debuts at No. 50 and could climb quickly as he continues to develop.

Finn Hart RHP / 1B / Gardner-Edgerton, KS / 2026

The 6-foot-4 right-hander worked into the mid-80s and showed a big curveball with depth at the Building Champions Scout Day. With strong academics and impressive upside, Hart is a must-follow prospect.

Judah Monhollon C / 3B / Piper, KS / 2026

We got our first look at the physical 6-foot-1, 191-pound catcher at the US Nationals Scout Day. The Piper backstop turned in strong all-around numbers.

Christian Owens LHP / Louisburg, KS / 2026

Louisburg has produced a plethora of talented arms in recent years, and Owens is on track to add to that list. The 6-foot-3, long-and-loose left-hander filled up the zone at the ABA Scout Day and appears to have much more in the tank.
