2027 Rankings Update: Fall of 2025
September 8, 2025
The 2027 class enters the recruiting period with plenty of hype behind it - a position-heavy group at the top with plenty of arms ready to make jumps. A quiet update was set prior to August 1st, mostly effecting the top 50, and now the entire list gets a full refresh that includes some shifting at the top.
Our staff dug deep into this group as we approached this update, providing a 'Cheat Sheet' for recruiters as the fall recruiting period nears. Find the position player preview, here, along with forty pitchers highlighted at this link.

9 | Clark Bucher 🆕 | OF | Hamilton Southeastern |
10 | Ben Canada | SS | Guerin Catholic |
+ The top five players set the opening tier of this group with SS Isaiah Snavely and CF Drake McClurg continuing to pace the top of the class. These prospects offer dynamic skills with five tools showing for both at times. Following these two remain the top two arms, Davis Moore and Cole Cheatham. Cheatham has remained a staple in our top 5 while Moore climbed in our summer update after a big 2025 campaign. Rounding out this group of uber-talented Hoosier natives is 1B/OF Grady Nelson, a physical specimen at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds with some of the loudest raw power in the Midwest, and beyond, for 2027.
The next tier for us includes a contigent of prospects following the five above, traveling into the mid-teens, a group that holds little seperation to this point to provide immense depth beyond the frontline talent that has become evident at the very top. The remainder of the top ten includes SS Parker Robinson, another staple at the top of this group, and CF/C Mason Meyer, a high-floor, gamer, that has steadily climbed the top ten throughout 2025 - now sitting at #8. SS Ben Canada is the lone committed player in the top ten (Northwestern) and debuted at No. 10 in our summer update, where he remains in this update. Two new faces debut inside the top ten for the first time in this update, and are highlighted below...

Camden Moore 3B / RHP / Zionsville, IN / 2027+ Moore was a consensus favorite amongst our staff throughout the summer circuit, along with our week spent with several of the top prospects in this class at the Future Games. It is arguably the most impressive frame in the class, a verified 6-foot-5, 203-pounder that offers a strong toolset, a track record of production, and intriguing athletic traits. There is over-the-fence power with above average contact in a direct stroke that creates easy leverage, providing a run-producers' vibe as he plays all four corners at an above average clip. The floor as a middle of the order bat is high, while the ceiling that Moore provides on the mound is one of the highest amongst any right-hander in the class. The arm action is pristine with a frame to make jumps quickly - Moore will sit 88-90 and up to 91 with an above average slider in the bag along with the offensive abilities we've become accustomed to. The upside is immense with the little mound time he has, along with the athletic traits the come with the profile. A basketball player in the winter, Moore has a recorded 6.91 60-yard dash and finished in the top 5 amongst Team Indiana participants in the vertical jump. There is certainly room for polish on both sides, but Moore's card is full of unteachable boxes checked that ultimately catapults him to No. 6 within this update.

Clark Bucher OF / Hamilton Southeastern HS, IN / 2027+ A silky mover with some of the biggest offensive upside in class, Bucher enjoyed a breakout 2025 with offensive impact elevating from both sides of the dish. There is true switch hit ability here, leveraging well on the right side while providing an on-plane path with a sweet look from the left. He boasts impacts into the mid-90s from both sides with the ability to get the ball in the air that, as strength is packed onto the 6-foot-2, 170-pound frame, should bring home run power with the present wiry strength considered. Along with the bullish offensive outlook, Bucher offers some promise as a future CF with a recorded 6.77 60 and a graceful gait when tracking in the gaps. Bucher elevates to No. 9 in this update with a chance to jump even higher if he replicates the development he has shown in our time following.

Summer ⭐'s
12 Risers within this update that shined on the summer circuit and see themselves at least 10 spots compared to their spring ranking
+ #16 (#4 RHP) Sam Tokar, Yorktown - was #26 overall
Tokar offered my single favorite watch amongst my many check-ins on sophomore arms this spring, and though there is still polishing to be done, the young-for-class, 6-foot-3, 190-pound broad-shouldered righty has a chance to be one of the best arms in this bunch when its all said and done. He shined at the Prospects Scout Day before several high-end looks on the circuit that culminated in his Future Games performance that brought a heavy heater into the low-90s.
+ #17 (#5 RHP) Chase Gothrup, Harrison - was #34 overall
Gothrup offered the single most impactful outing I saw of the summer - flooding the zone with three above average pitches with a squeaky-clean look at the ABC. That watch brought even better stuff than our staff saw this spring, where the 6-foot-1 Lafayette native shined bright with some of the best pitch ability in the class to bring serious production to a talented Harrison Raiders staff. We push Gothrup even higher up our board in this update, on the heels of an excellent summer, and he provides one of the highest floors amongst arms in this class while oozing a next-level starters' look.

6’1” lean frame holds projection. Playing catch at 85-87, up to 89 in the first. Spinning it at 74-76 in the 26-2700s.

+ #20 (#6 RHP) Charlie Herr, Homestead - was #40 overall
Herr continously gained helium with our staff this summer after tossing one of my favorite pens' of the winter at the All-State in March. The uber-projectable, 6-foot-4, 165-pounder steadily climbed from a velocity perspective throughout 2025, working into the upper 80s to pair with a well-spun, chance-for-future plus sweeper, and an above average change sold with fastball arm speed. Herr offers a safe mix of floor and ceiling with velocities reaching 88 already, a strike-throwing nature, feel for spin, and all the ingredients to continue to elevate himself in the next 12 months.
+ #32 (#6 OF) Ben Schaeffer, Mt. Vernon - was #71 overall
Our staff as a whole enjoyed following Ben throughout the summer, a former Junior Future Gamer with budding impacts that elevate one of the better bat to ball abilities in the class. An undersized, still immature frame brings upside, though there is enough wiry strength to impact the baseball into the upper-90s already. He brings a well-above average run tool that plays higher between the lines, with an upper-80s arm from the outfield and a chance to stick in center with continued improvements athletically.

Loose lefty stroke w tools starting to blossom. Putting together a strong summer w standout bat-to-ball. #17ABC pic.twitter.com/orYM6xGPQD
+ #34 (#12 RHP) Henry Haley, Cathedral - was #44 overall
Haley was a buzzy name throughout the spring and summer, breaking out with a quality 'pen at the All-State before performing at a well-above average clip for a strong Cathedral varsity club. His velocities saw a bit of a rise in the summer, up to 91 in Atlanta where he turned some heads. I caught his start at the ABC and was impressed with his three-pitch mix and competitiveness. He sat in the mid-80s and touched 88 in my early morning look, spinning a slider that has made headway since the winter, while flashing a well-above average change that is his best secondary in my evals.
Quality look at ‘27 Henry Haley (@HenryHaley44) this AM.

+ #36 (#4 LHP) Cutler Chastain, Bedford North Lawrence - was #136 overall
Chastain was a huge winner on the circuit - a strike-throwing, athletic, 6-foot-1 southpaw that earned high praise from multiple members of our staff at various Prep Baseball Tournaments. The development trends have been outstanding, with our staff first noticing Cutler as a silky-moving, light-but-right southpaw that pitched in the upper-70s at that time with a frame that was still immature. The physical strength and maturity growth has led to velocities reaching into the mid-80s this summer, and they play above that with ride properties from a lower release height. Chastain has an above average changeup that has a chance to climb even higher, playing with some late sink and glove side feel in the mid-70s. The breaking ball is an average pitch for now, but tunnels well with his other two pitches and shows some bite at 68-70 with 1/7 shaped break.
+ #37 (#8 OF) Mark Neels, Carmel - was #52 overall
Highly-intriguing athlete with real explosive capabilities that was a winner at our Nitro Scout Day this summer. Offers one of the louder offensive toolsets amongst OF in this class, with a recorded 6.46 60-yard dash and exits that surpass 95 mph. Short, tight swing played with some bat speed on the summer circuit and was productive in my looks. Has made strong strides within his development over the past 12 months, real chance to continue to climb this list with further polish and more at-bats versus high level pitching.

Twitchy strong athlete w a chance to polish. One of the top runners in the class. #NitroScout25 pic.twitter.com/t6NOJ0jB8b
+ #38 (#9 OF) Paxton Lukac, Andrean - was #65 overall
A toooled-out athlete with two-way upside from one of the strongest programs, traditionally, within the state - Lukac shined bright as one of the top 2027s at our Top Prospect Games this summer. The metrics jump out immediately, a 6.58 runner who produced 98+ exits with an arm that reaches 89 on the bump. There is room for polish in the rotational-natured, right-handed swing that boasts impressive hand speed and above average bat speed that could continue to elevate him. He is a slam-dunk to stay in CF with a defensive-oriented floor feeling safe, while the heater up to 89 and slider that spins into the 2800s leaves massive intrigue on that side of the ball as well.

Uber-athletic @ 6’0” 170 lbs.

+ #44 (#11 OF) Amari Moore, Lawrence North - was #78 overall
Another tooled-out athlete rising after a productive summer, like Lukac, Moore shined at the Top Prospect Games while providing one of the more explosive looks in the class. A 6.61 runner, Moore feels like a lock to stick in center with an explosive first step and plus run times underway. A switch-hitter that looks more natural from the right side, Moore still holds room for polish at the dish, but the swing is short and there is twitch to the launch. Ultimately, the athlete is what I value most here and is the driver behind Moore's rise into our top 50 in this update.

+ #48 (#7 SS) Kaden Crumes, Yorktown - was #101 overall
Crumes was a close follow throughout the summer after shining bright in a spring look for Yorktown. The athletic, 5-foot-10, 165-pounder shows advanced actions on the dirt with clean feet, soft hands, and a playable transfer. The arm plays closer to average from a strength perspective but he can quick release. Offensively, there is feel to hit with an athletic swing that flashes some pull-side power and exits near-95 mph. The toolset does not jump off the page, but I value the athletic movement patterns at all times and the ability to take care of the baseball in the middle.
‘27 SS Kaden Crumes (@Kaden_Crumes) continues to show well in ‘25 with a PS RBI 1B in this look.

+ #49 (#19 RHP) Joey Ortman, Greenwood - was #114 overall
An upside play, Ortman provides serious intirigue as a young-for-class, projection arm that stands at 6-foot-5, 175 pounds. The arm really works as it flips up to a 3/4 slot, providing a mid-80s heater that ran up to 87 this summer with arm side life. He spins an average to better slider at 73-75 that should elevate with polish.
+ #52 (#12 OF) Jackson Graf, Noblesville - was #201 overall
Standing at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds in the left-handed batters' box, Graf looks the part of a prospect, and his hands jumped out immediately as some of the quickest of the day amongst a talented crowd of upperclassmen at the Prospects Scout Day this summer. He blasted 101+ exits while working behind the ball with a slow-tempo, controlled operation. There is some over-rotation that should be monitored, but the profile and tools flash a high-upside look undoubtedly. He is a quality runner that turned in a 6.87, with above average arm strength as well (85 from the outfield).
