On Saturday, August 2nd, the PB Texas staff traveled to McLennan CC in Waco, TX to host the Central Texas Uncommitted Games, an event for uncommitted 2026 & 2027 prospects.

Over 40 Players made their way to MCC and participated in a pro-style workout followed by gameplay, gathering unrivaled access to data through our state-of-the-art tech partners, as well as in-depth scouting analysis from our Prep Baseball Texas staff.

Today, we take a look at the scouting reports on every catcher in attendance as well as rank the top 3 from the event.

TOP CATCHERS

1. Cruz Banuelas, Prestonwood Christian Academy (TX), 2026
Positional Profile: C/3B RHH/C with solid build/frame to add strength. Receives well, block well, raw arm strength present. Solid bat/power combo in future. Will firm approach and swing, upside to bat/power. Developing player, plays hard, confident. Watch develop.
Body: 6-1, 212.1 pounds. Good build/frame. Has width to shoulders and back. Strength is present. Strong lower half. Good physical projections.
Hit: RHH. Rotational back foot, gets stuck in rotation, slides towards 3rd with swing. Work to get foot fully turned and drive towards mound with linear movement to fully engage lower 1/2. Back foot can slide away from plate on away pitches for balance, drive forward other times. Barrel/hands in good launch position, takes solid path to hit zone. Work to keep top hand above bottom hand, especially on pitches middle/away. 78 mph bat speed with 9g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 100 mph max exit velocity (90.5 avg.); 355-foot max batted distance. Solid bat/power combo in future, look for power to continue to develop. Adjustment to hit approach and swing will result in more contact consistency and impact. Great base to work from.
Arm: RH. C - 79 mph. Arm works well. Arm speed is present with raw arm strength. Nice compact arm action.
Defense: 1.88-2.04 pop time range; Sound footwork. Clean glove exchange. Just work on staying low consistently when throwing.
Athletic Testing: 7.24 runner in the 60-yard dash; Good runner, moves well. Shows good actions in strides and arm swing. Above avg speed.
