Texas Class of 2027 Rankings Update (Sept. 2025)

The 2027 class in Texas is a special one, loaded with athleticism, projection, and players who are beginning to make a real impact across the state. As the Summer season has come to an end, we roll out our latest update to the Prep Baseball Texas 2027 State Rankings. There is plenty movement in throughout and we have expanded to 300 players. Below, we take a closer look at the top 10 with more coverage to follow.

TOP 10
1. Lubin Rincon | LHH/SS | Shadow Creek HS
Top prospect for 2027. SS with good actions. Will be a plus defender as he continues to mature. At 6’2” 178 pounds, has the frame to hold more weight and strength. Smooth and effortless stroke on the left side. Hit over power. Barrel to ball is there. Athletic mover with a 6.69 60. Moves well around the bases. Will be exciting watching him develop over the next couple years.
2. Jake Ivey | LHP | Gunter HS
Great projectability. Arm speed is there with a solid frame at 6’3” 205. FB up to 92, sits 89-91. Has downhill plane with some arm side sink and run. SL 75-78, has feel for it and will continue to develop more depth. CH 82-83.
3. Sebastian Castillo | SS | Byron Nelson HS
Top prospect for 2027. SS with above average arm strength and speed. Plus defender with instincts. Castillo has distinguished himself as a top performer with his ability to hit for power and consistency. Standing at 6’0” 187 pounds, the upside is there and the future is bright.
4. Lash Henderson | OF | Prestonwood Christian Academy
Very toolsy player with plus speed (6.5 runner) and good pop for his age group. Has the ability to drive balls through both gaps. Athletic build at 6’4” 212 pounds. Strength is solid but will continue to improve with maturity. Strong arm strength in the OF and can cover a lot of ground. Chance to be a high draft pick.
5. George Ferguson | RHP | Abilene HS
Really nice frame at 6’3” 210. FB sits 90-93 and T94. Has some tilt to his FB and the ability to move the ball around. SL sits around 79-81 with more depth than sweep. Ability to throw it in any count. CH sits 83-85 and is firm. The stuff is there and will continue to improve. What really makes him stand out is the ability to command 3 pitches.
6. Drake Hawpe | OF | Liberty Christian
A 6’4” 205 pound outfielder with a great frame to continue adding strength. A big time arm (96) and better than average speed for his size (6.97 60). What really stands out is his ability to get the barrel going forward. Very heavy barrel. Will be fun watching him the next few years.
7. Quinn Fitzpatrick | RHP | Stratford HS
Athletic RHP, moves well. Very mature and repeatable delivery for his age. FB sits 92-94 and T95 with late life. SL 78-83, showing both cutter-like action and true depth. CH sits 82-84 with arm side fade. Three pitch mix with efficient delivery.
8. Grant Sperandio | RHP | Houston Memorial HS | Texas Commit
Solid frame RHP with some upside. Arm speed present. Has the ability to get swing and miss out of both FB and SL. FB T95, sits 92-94. SL has some depth but more sweep. Development of mental game will be a key part of his growth. Shows to be a competitor on the mound with aggressive mentality.
9. Hank Rippy | LHH/SS | Austin Anderson HS
Tall, wiry, athletic frame with room to add strength. Solid actions defensively. Feet work well to both glove and backhand sides. Glove action is smooth with easy transition. Above average arm with more in the tank. Has ability to be a very good defender at higher levels. Lefty bat with quick hands through the zone. Gap-to-gap power with ability to hit for more power. A very solid player with a lot of growing still to do.
10. Selvin Garrett | SS | Buda Johnson HS | Texas Commit
Athletic frame that will continue to add strength and size with maturity. Plus actions on the infield dirt. Has some range. Almost “glides” across the ground as he moves. Very effortless. Glove action is good and has soft hands. Quick release on throw with above average arm for age. Contact-over-power RHH. Ability to backspin balls into both gaps. Lots of upside.
