Class of 2027: Rankings Update 9/8

As the summer circuit winds down and players turn their focus toward the fall, we’ve released our latest update to the Arizona Class of 2027 Player Rankings. This marks the second revision of the year, highlighted by notable movement within the Top 95. Strong spring seasons carried into the summer, where standout performances continued to shift the landscape and further separate the state’s premier rising juniors.

Our evaluation process is fluid and ongoing, built on multiple in-game looks, showcase data, and continuous conversations to ensure the most accurate read on each player. While some prospects may rise quickly, it doesn’t always signal regression from others, development is a long-term process that comes with natural peaks and valleys. With the fall season ahead, new names are sure to emerge, expanding the depth of talent in Arizona’s 2027 class. Our local and national scouting staff remain in close collaboration, constantly updating rankings to reflect the most current information available.

Robert Villa III SS / 2B / Centennial, AZ / 2027The top ranked 2027 in Arizona continues to separate himself with a polished, well rounded game. A twitchy, switch-hitting shortstop, Bobby stays short and compact through the zone with line drive consistency, ability to spray all fields and flashes of sneaky pop. His 6.39 speed is a real weapon, turning routine plays into pressure on the defense, while his glove shows advanced feel with smooth rhythm, soft hands and the ability to throw from all angles. Bobby is a gamer with tools and instincts that make him one of the most complete prospects in the Southwest.

Baylor Denny SS / 3B / Casteel, AZ / 2027Baylor is one of the premier two-way talents in Arizona’s 2027 class. He keeps showing polish beyond his years. The right-hander sits mid to upper 80s (occasionally running up it to the low 90's) with feel for a three pitch mix, while the switch to the dirt highlights smooth actions, an 88 mph arm across the diamond and the confidence of a true shortstop. With a balanced stroke and growing impact at the plate, Baylor's athleticism, poise and versatility make him a centerpiece prospect with a high ceiling.

Aldo Teilon SS / OF / Tucson, AZ / 2027Aldo brings big tools and a frame that’s just starting to fill out. The left-handed hitter uses long levers and fast hands to create easy juice, already posting triple digit exit velocities with a max of 402 feet. He’s athletic (6.74 runner) with arm strength that jumps off the page (95 mph from the OF, 88 across the diamond), giving him plenty of upside on both sides of the ball. Continued refinement on the dirt could unlock one of the highest ceilings in the state’s 2027 class.

Soren Etheridge RHP / 3B / Phoenix Country, AZ / 2027Rankings StateRank: 4 / POS: 1
Soren has taken big strides and now owns one of the louder arms in Arizona’s 2027 class. The 6'2 righty sits 88–92 and has touched 93, pairing the heater with a sharp 71–76 mph curveball and a firm slider in the low 80s. The fastball comes out heavy with carry through the zone, and the delivery is clean with more velocity likely to come. His size, arm speed, and feel for multiple pitches give him a high upside profile on the mound.

Grafton Marshall-Inman RHP / 1B / Chaparral, AZ / 2027Grafton shows one of the more polished arsenals in Arizona’s 2027 class. The 6'2 right-hander works 89–92, touching 92.5, with a clean, repeatable delivery and advanced feel for four pitches, including a sharp slider (2500+ spin) and fading changeup. He fills the zone, changes speeds with confidence, and keeps hitters off balance, projecting as a strike thrower with stuff that should continue to tick up as he matures.

Blake Gonzales 3B / RHP / Hamilton, AZ / 2027Blake has emerged as one of the more complete infielders in Arizona’s 2027 class, with tools that impact the game in every phase. At the plate, the right-handed hitter shows advanced strength and bat speed, driving balls with authority to all fields (104 mph max EV, 405 ft). He defends well at third with smooth actions and a 92 mph arm, projecting as a steady presence on the left side. On top of the power and glove, Blake brings sneaky athleticism, swiping at least one bag every time he reached base at this year’s Future Games in Georgia. While he’s also touched 92 on the mound, his offensive impact, defensive skill and all around athleticism make him one of the premier position players in the class.

Ben Jacobus OF / 1B / Corona Del Sol, AZ / 2027Formerly the top ranked player in Arizona’s 2028 class before reclassifying, Ben brings a top of the order profile with advanced instincts and athleticism. The left-handed hitter shows mature at bats with the ability to spray line drives and create offense in multiple ways, posting a 98.9 max exit velocity with flashes of pull side juice. Light on his feet with quick twitch actions, he plays with rhythm and a high baseball IQ, consistently taking the extra 90 feet and impacting the game on the bases. With his wiry frame still filling out, Ben carries plenty of projection as one of the more exciting bats in the 2027 class.

Alexander McRae LHP / 1B / ALA Queen Creek, AZ / 2027Rankings StateRank: 8 / POS: 1
Xander's long 6'3 frame and funky/deceptive delivery make him a tough look for hitters. The fastball works mid 80's with natural arm side run and he mixes in a developing changeup and a deceptive breaking ball that can miss bats. Athletic off the mound with body control and projection, Xander's size and unique look give him intriguing upside as the stuff continues to climb. |

Jace Adams RHP / 3B / Flagstaff High School, AZ / 2027Rankings StateRank: 9 / POS: 3
Jace brings a physical 6'3 frame and a competitive edge every time he takes the mound. The right-hander works mid to high 80's and has touched 89 with life, mixing a sharp 72–77 curveball and a fading changeup in the upper 70s. While command is still coming along, his presence, arm strength and three pitch mix give him a strong foundation with plenty of projection as he gears up for his future at ASU.

Dreson Ethier SS / RHP / Brophy Prep, AZ / 2027Dre's lean 6'1 frame and athleticism give him plenty of projection moving forward. A 6.60 runner with fluid actions and clean footwork on the dirt, he looks the part of a steady defender. Offensively, the right-handed hitter stays on plane for what feels like forever, posting a 91 on-plane efficiency at the ProCase while driving balls up to 340 feet. With his speed, defensive feel and advanced barrel control, Dre is an arrow up prospect in Arizona’s 2027 class.
