As summer comes to a close and the fall season approaches, we’re excited to release our third update of the year for the Class of 2027 Alabama Player Rankings. The list now features 125 of the state’s top prospects, reflecting the impact of standout performances throughout the spring and summer months. From strong showings in high school competition to dominant outings at summer Prep Baseball events, players have continued to refine their skills and strengthen their résumés. This latest update not only highlights those making significant strides but also sets the stage for the upcoming fall circuit—a critical period in the recruiting process for these rising juniors looking to leave their mark.
As always, our evaluation process is fluid and ongoing, built on multiple viewings and discussions to get the most accurate feel for each player’s abilities. It’s worth noting that while some players show rapid improvement, this doesn’t suggest that others have regressed—player development is simply a journey with peaks and valleys. As the season unfolds, new names will continue to surface, expanding the universe of top prospects in Alabama. In addition to our player evaluations, our scouts—both in-state and nationally—have been in constant dialogue, comparing notes and making adjustments based on the latest insights to ensure the rankings are as up-to-date and accurate as possible.

Paul Barnett SS / RHP / Mountain Brook, AL / 2027Rankings StateRank: 1 / POS: 1
From 7/31/25: "Barnett (Mountain Brook, 2027) continues to help lead a quality crop of 2027 infielders in Alabama and showcased quality two-way traits during the event. A lean 6-foot-3, 175-pound build with limitless projection, Barnett continued to find a way to make an impact against some of the best in his class, as he recorded multiple hits in gameplay, highlighted by an opposite-field HR. Easy mover through impact with premium athleticism. Massive power upside with ability to flick in a handsy right-handed swing. Also worked up to 93 mph on the mound in a two-inning stint, ranging mostly 88-91 mph and primarily working off the FB. Flashed an 80 mph SL with good bite and a diving 82-84 mph CH. OTT slot and works down the mound aggresively." |
