Prep Baseball Alabama Staff

The Alabama Diamond Notes will showcase standout performances from across the state, based on nominations from high school coaches. Each Wednesday throughout the high school season, we will recognize position players, pitchers, and two-way players who delivered impressive performances during their team's games. A special thank you to the many coaches who submitted nominations this week. The following stats reflect games played from April 7th-12th.

Kennith Dalton Jackson 3B / Florala High School, AL / 2025

Jackson, a Coastal Alabama-North CC recruit was 5-9 (.556) last week with four doubles while scoring six runs and walking seven times. On the mound, he tossed seven innings of three-hit baseball and did not allow a run while striking out 11. 

Nicholas Youngblood C / 2B / Clay-Chalkville, AL / 2025

The UAH recruit was instrumental in Clay-Chalkville's run to a playoff spot as he was 5-12 (.417) last week with two home runs. Youngblood drove in five runs, walked twice and stole two bases. 

Jordon Lankford OF / RHP / Geraldine School, AL / 2028

The freshman finds his name on the list again as he was 3-6 (.500) on the week while walking three times as well. He had one double and two triples while scoring twice to finish the week with a .667 OBP. Lankford now has eight doubles and ten triples on the season.  

Luke Holbrook RHP / 3B / WHITESBURG CHRISTIAN ACADEMY, AL / 2025

The Montevallo recruit continues to star in a two-way role for the Warriors as he was 4-8 (.500) last week with a home run, a double and three runs driven in. He also scored three times. On the mound, he was 1-0 with a complete game win (7 IP) striking out 18 and not allowing a run on four hits. 

Braden Abernathy OF / 2B / Buckhorn, AL / 2025

The Snead State recruit has been instrumental in the Bucks recent success as he was 11-15 (.733) a week ago with two home runs and a triple. Abernathy drove in eight runs, scored seven times and stole three bases. 

Zackary Johnson C / OF / Bob Jones, AL / 2025

Johnson, an Alabama recruit, missed some time recently with an injury but is back in full force with the bat as he hit .700 (7-10) last week with a home run and two doubles. He drove in three runs and scored five times while walking once.  

Dillon Adkins OF / LHP / Bob Jones, AL / 2025

The uncommitted senior hit an even .500 (6-12) last week with a home run and a double while driving in five runs. He scored six times, walked twice and stole three bases. 

Myles Hammonds OF / SS / Bob Jones High School, AL / 2025

Hammonds, an uncommitted senior, continues to lead the way for the Patriots out of the leadoff spot as he was 5-12 (.417) a week ago with two doubles and a stolen base. He scored five times and walked once as well.  

Tanner Hermesch RHP / 3B / Bob Jones, AL / 2025

The Shelton State recruit was 1-0 on the mound last week with a complete game (7 IP) shutout win as he allowed only two hits to go with 11 punchouts. Opposing hitters hit only .087 against him. Offensively, Hermesch was 4-11 (.364) with a home run and a double to go with six runs driven in. He scored three times, walked once and had a stolen base.  

John William Nix RHP / 1B / Gulf Shores, AL / 2028

The freshman was 4-10 (.400) last week with two doubles and a run driven in. He also scored two runs and walked once. On the mound, Nix came up huge for the Dolphins as he turned in a complete game (5 IP) shutout in a must-win situation to punch the Dolphins ticket to the state playoffs. He allowed one hit to go with three strikeouts as opposing hitters only hit .056 against him over two appearances.

John Luke Stephens SS / RHP / Gulf Shores, AL / 2026

Stephens, a Mississippi Gulf Coast CC recruit, was 8-13 (.615) last week with a triple and two runs driven in. He scored three times, walked four times and stole two bases as he finished the week with a .706 OBP.

John Ducar 3B / RHP / Jacksonville, AL / 2026

An uncommitted junior, Ducar was 1-0 last week with a complete game (7 IP) win to clinch the area championship. He allowed four hits, walked two and struck out 12 opposing hitters. 

Braxton Franklin C / RHP / Geraldine High School, AL / 2029

Franklin, a freshman, was 1-0 on the mound last week as he turned in a five inning complete game masterpiece on only 62 total pitches. He did not walk anyone while allowing three hits and striking out six.  

Andrew Oelke LHP / Buckhorn, AL / 2025

Oelke, a Calhoun recruit, came up big for the Bucks in the area championship clinching series againast Hazel Green. He got the win in Game 1 as he twirled 6.1 innings of no-hit baseball with 11 strikeouts allowing one earned run. 

Camden Martin 2B / SS / Bob Jones, AL / 2025

An uncommitted senior, Martin was 1-0 last week for the 7A No. 2 Patriots. He tossed five innings of one-hit baseball and did not allow a run. He struck out 11 and walked two as opposing hitters only hit .062 against him.
