Uncommitted 2023 RHP/OF, Jake Cumming, is a small school prospect out of Fernley, NV that has shown positive progression at each Prep Baseball Report event over the past year. At 6-foot-3, 182 pounds, his game has continued to trend in the right direction, ultimately leading into personal bests across the board at the recent Fall Underclass event at Las Vegas Ballpark. With a lean, projectable frame and a fastball sitting low to mid 80's with raw mechanics that rely heavily on his athleticism through his delivery. His arm action during then outfield portion of the event proves he does have the arm speed to run it up higher than his PBR Verified 84 mph fastball when he does get his lower half more incorporated in his motion. His TrackMan data available on his PBR Player Profile highlights his Fastball Spin Rate topping out at 2210 which is right at the Major League Baseball average and with expected physical developments and strength gains throughout his high waisted frame, his spin rate on his fastball should increase along with his developing secondary pitches that include a changeup and breaking ball.
