Rising Stars on the Radar: 2028 C Eddie Mitchell (Lenape)
September 26, 2025
One of the most advanced defensive catchers in the Northeast. Mitchell has the defensive metrics to prove this point, but he also has the in-game performances and defensive reliability that really sets him apart from the rest. He also has displayed advanced situational hitting alongside impressive hitting metrics.
Defensively, Mitchell boasts impressive pop times as low as 1.89-2.03 seconds. In addition to his 1.89 pop time, he also displays an advanced arm strength of 80 mph down to second base. Having a strong arm allows Mitchell to still throw out runners while dealing with tough pitches to exchange and throw on. His ability to receive and steal strikes is his most valuable asset. He accomplishes this with elite pocket awareness, soft hands, and receiving the pitch with momentum bringing it into the strike zone.
Offensively, in-game performance is a strength in his game. Metrically, his exit velocities have peaked at 98.4 mph, a max distance of 369 feet, and a sweet-spot percentage of 70 percent. His adjustability, body control, and strength play a part in his ability to grind out at-bats and being a productive hitter. Mitchell can be the slugger and the situational hitter in any given at-bat.
Overall, there are many aspects in his game that prove how advanced he is both offensively and defensively. As one of the Northeast’s top catchers, he will continue to be a very fun ball player to watch.
