Tate Tuininga RHP / 3B / Liberty, WA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 13 / POS: 3
Seen at the Seattle Summer ID - Session II this July, Tuininga broke out as one of the highest-upside arms in the class with a strong performance. The Liberty High School prospect ran his heater up to 85 MPH from a loose, fluid low 3/4 slot release. The FB is a high spin offering with over 2340 RPM on average, giving it life to all quadrants with some natural run. Tuininga also showcased a CH/CB/SL combination, with SL flashing depth as strongest secondary offering. The righty's tall, lanky 6'4 frame moves well on the mound, and could easy continue to add velocity as the frame adds strength. The righty bat also had up to 91 MPH exit velocities at the plate. Tuininga will be an exciting follow with a starter's profile and will be throwing at the West Coast Super Sophomore Games at the end of the month.

Tyson Richardson RHP / 3B / Richland, WA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 37 / POS: 6
Lean, projectable arms is one of the biggest themes in the 2028 ranks top to bottom, and Richardson fits this description perfectly as a young righthanded arm. The Richland athlete was seen at this winter's Central Washington Preseason ID, where he displayed a three pitch mix for strikes on the mound. Richardson's FB sat 80-81 MPH from a whippy, quick high 3/4 slot release. The FB has been up a few ticks into the mid-80's in looks this summer. The righty also kills spin well on a mid-70's CH and showcased a CB at 67-69 MPH with 11/5 action. The mechanical operation is clean with a slow, steady wind leading into late intent through release, with balance and controlled actions throughout. Expect Richardson to get more run on the mound in the years to come.

Mason Malloy 3B / OF / Newport, WA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 44 / POS: 7
Malloy impressed at multiple events this summer, first seen at Bannerwood before participating at PNW State Games at the end of July. At Bannerwood, Malloy delivered some of the most consistent barrels at the event, utilizing his 5'11 frame well. The hands stay quiet through load with balance in the lower half, accelerating through contact with a longer, whippy two-handed finish. The Newport athlete posted a 90.6 MPH peak and 86 MPH average exit velocity, with a max batted ball distance of 337 feet. At State Games, Malloy posted new bests in several other metrics, including throws up to 86 MPH from the outfield and a 6.97 60-yard dash time. The athleticism clearly translated in-game with an ability to cover ground in all 3 outfield spots. One of the better athletes in the class will be a name to know moving forward. |

Hunter Kirkeby RHP / OF / Tumwater, WA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 51 / POS: 7
Another tall, lean arm, Kirkeby threw well at the Pacific Northwest Summer ID this May before another solid appearance at PNW State Games. The 6'4 righty worked the FB up to 82 MPH, generating easy extension down the mound and working the pitch to both sides of the plate. Both offspeed pitches flashed as potential plus offerings. The CH was thrown at 66-69 MPH and killed spin extremely well, creating tumbling action with an average spin rate of 897 RPM. The CB was landed at 66-70 MPH, averaging over 2300 RPM. Kirkeby was also on the barrel at the dish, posting a best exit velocity of 96.5 MPH and driving balls up to 359 feet. Hewson Spencer OF / RHP / West Valley, WA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 53 / POS: 8
Spencer showed some great improvements across the board from a look this winter to his latest look in the summer, setting several new personaly bests metrically. The two-way player may currently carry more upside on the mound, where he showcased a four pitch mix from an athletic delivery and a 3/4 slot release. The FB sat 80-82 MPH with plenty more to go get, while a CH/SL/CB were all mixed in as well. Offensively, the 6'2 prospect maintains a tight turn with a contact-over-power approach, driving balls up to 91.5 MPH. The 7.4 second runner could handle a corner spot with throws up to 83 MPH in the outfield. Spencer is another player who will be at the Super Sophomore Games, and continues to trend upward in 2025. |

Henry Olsen C / 3B / Bainbridge, WA / 2028Rankings StateRank: 58 / POS: 10
The 5'11 prospect features present strength at tools, seen at his first Prep Baseball event this summer. Olsen began his showcase with a 7.21 second 60-yard dash time. The lefthanded bat then showcased an upright, flatter approach with a heavier barrel through the zone. The ball really jumped off the bat, peaking with a 98.1 MPH exit velocity and a 344 foot batted ball distance. Defensively, Olsen showed best from the catcher position, where he flashed a smooth, quick transfer and a best pop time of 2.02 seconds. Though the arm strength is still developing, Olsen showed a clean operation mechanically and throws on the bag at all times. The sophomore also made the routine play in the outfield, with minimal wasted movement on fly ball approach. The Bainbridge product will be a name to keep an eye on as a part of a state champion high school program. |
