October 3, 2025
On Saturday, September 13th, the Prep Baseball Kansas staff traveled to Gardner-Edgerton High School in Gardner, KS to host the Canes Great Plains Scout Day. This event, featured 15+ players from the Canes Great Plains program in attendence.
All of our events offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that takes place at the tail end of the summer. Earlier, our staff rolled out the day’s statistical standouts in leaderboard format within our ‘Stat Story’, which you can find HERE. Today, after combing through our notes from the day, we’ve compiled some of the event’s standouts within these ‘Quick Hits’. Read below to learn about 4 names that popped to our staff from Saturday's trip to Gardner.
QUICK HITS
+ C/OF Jack Lewis (Gardner-Edgerton, 2027) is a well-rounded athlete who made his presence felt at Saturday’s event. Lewis kicked off the day by turning in the fastest 60 time at 6.77, including a quick 3.76 30 yard split. At the plate, the 5-foot-11, 185-pounder flashed feel for the barrel with pull-side authority, peaking at 90 mph exit velocity with more juice to come as he continues to develop. Defensively, Lewis impressed with his versatility—posting a 1.87–2.04 pop time and 77 mph arm from the chute while also showing the ability to track balls in the outfield with an 83 mph arm top pair. Lewis looks primed for a breakout spring on both sides of the ball for the TrailBlazers.

+ RHP Owen Glamann (Haysville Campus, 2026; Butler CC commit) continues to trend upward with each look and remains highly projectable in a lean 6-foot, 163-pound frame. The right-hander flashed one of the easier 88 mph fastballs in the state, showing that there’s still plenty more in the tank for the recent Butler CC commit. His fastball sat 81–88 mph in this look, touching 2,300+ RPM at times, and paired well with a 67–72 mph curveball that showed depth off the heater with over -10” of induced vertical break. Glamann also mixed in a developing 77–79 mph changeup that killed spin and a 76 mph cutter to round out a four-pitch mix.

+ Another arm to note from Saturday’s trip to Gardner was hometown product RHP Clayton Winder (Gardner-Edgerton, 2027). Long and lean at 6-foot-4, 177 pounds, Winder works from a unique arm slot with a frame that oozes projection. He posted the event’s second-highest fastball velocity, reaching 82.4 mph with natural arm-side run, and showed feel for two distinct breaking balls — a 62–66 mph curveball and a 69–70 mph slider with -14.5” of horizontal break that flashed swing-and-miss potential. Rounding out his arsenal, Winder mixed in a 67–70 mph low-spin changeup. With his size, upside, and four-pitch feel, Winder is a name to follow closely in the coming years.

+ Coming off a big sophomore campaign with the Broncos that earned him all-league honors, INF/OF Samuel Harris (Spring Hill, 2027) emerged as one of the day’s biggest winners on both sides of the ball. Harris sat at the top of several leaderboards, posting a 94.4 mph max exit velocity, 85.1 mph average exit velocity, 42% hard-hit rate, 82 mph infield velocity, and 85 mph outfield velocity. At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, the athletic utility man brings tools across the board and is primed to make a splash in the next rankings update.

Look for the 6-foot-2, 185-pound utility athlete to make a splash in the next 2027 rankings update with a break out performance.
