LOS ANGELES, CALIF. - Dylan Seward has been a known name in baseball circles in the Southern California area for a few years now, our first glimpse of the future Tennessee Volunteer came as a smallish but talented eighth grader at a Rising Stars ID event. He left so much of an impression that he came to the SoCal Underclass Games later that year where he cemented himself amongst the best players in the class in California.
Fast forward a couple of years and Seward’s name is not only known locally, but nationally as he is the No. 2 player in the Prep Baseball Class of 2027 Player Rankings on a national level and is widely considered a lock for a top of the first round pick in the 2027 MLB Draft.
After an up-and-down spring for Norco HS, Seward went on a tear in the summer that began with a standout showing at the 2025 Prep Baseball ProCase West where he set an event record with a 6.17 sixty yard run continuing to be a walking highlight reel. He more than fit the billing of a “SoCal Shortstop” in every sense of the word be it defense or offense. He lived on the barrel in BP and in-game and earned an invitation to the 2025 Prep Baseball All-American Game.

6️⃣.1️⃣7️⃣ runner was ALL over the barrel from both sides in BP. Tight turns working short-to-long w/ sneaky pwr from both sides.

In Miami Seward continued to open eyes, tying the event record with a 6.25 sixty yard run. Then the switch-hitting shortstop took some of the crispest rounds of batting practice from both sides of the plate where he showed length in the zone and abused both gaps with glimpses of his continuously developing power.
In the game Seward was on the unlucky end of one of the best plays in the game when he hit a slow chopper to the left side and was thrown out by half a step. Seward, however, would have the last laugh when he came up in the top of the 8th inning with a runner on and his team down three. Seward took a fastball for a ride to the deepest part of the park, one-hopping the center field fence for an inside-the-park homerun that electrified his teammates and the fans in the stands.
For Seward the highlight is likely to be one of many in what has a chance to be a very long career. For witnesses, it’s a memory they won't forget anytime soon.
