Most Viewed Profiles (2025): #6 Koa Romero

Alex Armand
Louisiana Scouting Director

As we head into the last couple of weeks of the calendar year, we want to highlight the most viewed profiles of 2025.  Today, we continue our countdown with the #6 spot, which belongs to junior Koa Romero of Hahnville High School.

The former Future Gamer and LSU commit hit .484 with 8 home runs, 11 doubles, and 3 triples, while driving in 31 runs and scoring another 37 runs for the Tigers last spring.

Scouting Report

2/22/25

A Top-10 player in the state's 2027 class since he stepped foot on Hahnville's campus, Romero was seeing "beach balls" last week for the Tigers.  We had to get an in-game look for ourselves at the Trey Altick Tournament, after Romero had launched two homeruns in a 4-for-4 game on Tuesday against Dutchtown.  On Thursday night against Ruston, he got pitched around quite a bit and finished the night 0-for-2 with 2 BB's.  We then headed out to West Monroe to see him on Saturday against Opelousas Catholic and he delivered one of the loudes barrels that we've seen so far this spring.  In the bottom of the 3rd inning, he jumped all over the first pitch that he saw for a no-doubt two run homerun to RF that got out in a hurry.  Romero uses such simple movements in the box and stays connected extremely well, keeping a tight and compact turn to contact to deliver a heavy barrel that produces loud results.  He hit three homeruns last week and we wouldn't be suprised to see him reach double-digits this spring.  He's a must-see sophomore prospect for prospective college recruiters this spring and summer.

Much like his teammate Guarisco above, Romero is another talented prospect in the Hahnville 2027 class. We last saw Romero at our Baton Rouge Preseason ID, and his body looked to be strong, as he currently stands in at a solid 5'11" 200 lbs. Romero had been hitting over .400 over his last few games, and finished last Thursday's contest against Lutcher 1-3 with a R and a BB. He showed good strike-zone discipline and never chased out of the zone. His base-hit was a first pitch single back up the middle, where he maintained a tight & compact turn to deliver a heavy barrel to contact. He also made a really nice diving catch in right field and nearly made another, but still had the awareness to pop up and gun the runner out at second base. The uncommitted freshman also doubles as a pretty good mid-80's arm on the mound, and is a two-way player that we're excited to continue to track over the coming years.
