Holiday Hitters Cambridge - Quick Hits

Cam Black-Araujo
Assistant Director, Canada

On Thursday, December 18th, the Prep Baseball Ontario staff hosted the third and final of our annual Holiday Hitters Showcases (Hitters Only) with the Holiday Hitters - Cambridge at The Yard in Cambridge, Ontario, home of the Midwestern Ontario Bearcats. This event featured roughly 24 players in 2026 - 2030 classes and allowed our staff a final opportunity to get an in-depth look at the players, as well as collect updated metrics via our tech partner TrackMan and Blast Motion.

Holiday Hitters always serve as our final showcases of the year, allowing players one final chance to update their profiles with headshots, video and hitting/swing data before the year concludes. It also gives us a sneak peak at some hitters who are eligible for the Best of the West Tournament, Future Games, Jr. Futures Games, West Coast Games and more (although it does not serve as a qualifier).

Today, we will conclude our post-event coverage within this Quick Hits article as we provide scouting notes and video on seven prospects who caught our staff's attention.

HOLIDAY HITTERS CAMBRIDGE - QUICK HITS

2027 OF/RHP Grayson McEntee (Fieldhouse): McEntee was the big winner of the event and nearly averaged 90mph exit velocity (89.2mph). Large frame with strength and broad shoulders, standing at 6-foot-2, 210-pounds. The right-handed hitter was on-time throughout his rounds, working primarily up the middle with a short stroke and direct hands. McEntee generated a peak exit velocity of 100.1mph, Hard Hit% of 61% and peak distance of 300ft. No doubt has impact in the bat and the ability to get balls in the air will help elevate his offensive profile. The Fieldhouse Pirate had the top bat speed at the event with an average of 69.1mph (74.2mph max), third best hand speed with an average of 20.9mph (23.0mph max) and second best average on-plane efficiency at 89%. McEntee looks primed for a big time breakout in 2026 and has expressed interest in reclassing to a 2028. The 38th-ranked prospect in Ontario’s 2027 class.

2027 OF Jack Trudeau (Terriers Baseball): Another big time winner at the event, Trudeau was crushing balls to the middle part of the cage with seven line drives travelling 297+ feet. Athletic, physical frame at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds and the strength was evident with the top peak distance (363ft) and average distance (202ft). Simple setup and load with a fluid stroke from the right-side, generating easy juice and hard contact with a peak exit velocity of 96mph (4th best), average exit velocity of 88.4mph (2nd best), Hard Hit% of 54% (2nd best) and Sweet Spot% of 64% (2nd best). Trudeau’s max bat speed of 75.3mph was 2nd best at the event, as well as his average of 67.6mph. Impressive showing from Trudeau who has tools that should garner interest from Division I programs. 19th-ranked prospect in Ontario’s 2027 class.

2029 OF Cole Morrison (Bradford Tigers): Morrison was the top 2029 at the event and it was a great first showing from the Bradford Tigers prospect. Still just 14-years-old, it’s an athletic look with tons of maturation to come, standing at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds. It’s a smooth, fluid right-handed swing with minimal wasted movement and generated the top exit velocity at the event at 102.4mph and second best peak distance at 356ft. Morrison added a Hard-Hit% of 31%, Sweet Spot% of 46% and Line Drive% of 38%. On the Blast Motion side, the outfielder’s average bat speed was 60.3mph (67.2mph max) and average hand speed of 20mph (21.1mph max). Quality first impression from Morrison who made some good adjustments after a lackluster first round. Will be an interesting follow as he continues to develop throughout high school.

2026/27 SS/OF Taylor Walter Atkinson (Midwestern Ontario Bearcats):  Walter Atkinson has made some big jumps since we last saw him in the preseason and posted the top numbers at the event among seniors and left-handed hitters. Proportionate frame with room for more strength at 6-foot, 175-pounds and his max exit velocity of 99.4mph was third best at the event, as well as his average exit velocity of 86.8mph and Hard Hit% of 48%. The Bearcats utility man showed the ability to hit to all fields and generated a Sweet Spot% of 51% and Line Drive% of 31%. The Blast Motion numbers graded out well with average bat speed of 67.5mph (72.2mph max), average hand speed of 20mph (21.4mph max) and average on-plane efficiency of 77%. Currently ranked No. 280 in Ontario’s senior class and is due for a jump in the next iteration.

2028 OF/LHP Colt McGuire (Fieldhouse Pirates): a 2024 Junior Future Games alum, McGuire has plenty of potential in his left-handed bat as he continues to develop and fill out his 6-foot-3, 168-pounds. McGuire’s best swings were line drives to the middle/pullside, although he was able to get elevated and extended on a few swings, peaking with a 340ft distance (4th best; 192ft avg) and exit velocity peaking at 93.8mph (5th best; 79.6mph avg). The Fieldhouse Pirate added a Sweet Spot% of 51%, Line Drive% of 34% and Flyball% of 34%. Average bat speed of 65.7mph (68.1mph max), average hand speed of 19.9mph (21.1mph max) and average on-plane efficiency of 71%. Just seven months away from  his recruitment opening, our staff is eager to see McGuire in game action this summer. 25th-ranked prospect in Ontario’s 2028 class.

2028 C Austin Burton (Fieldhouse Pirates): Burton is one of the top catchers within his class in Ontario and he’s physically advanced for his age, standing at 6-foot-2, 205-pounds. The 2024 Junior Future Games alum showcased more hit than power on the day which is encouraging as we know the juice is in there. Generated a peak exit velocity of 93mph (82mph avg), peak distance of 332ft (184ft avg), 22% Hard Hit%, Sweet Spot% of 46% and Line Drive% of 41%. The Blast Motion data showed average bat speed of 61.5mph (66.4mph avg), average hand speed of 19.1mph (20.4mph avg) and average on-plane efficiency of 75%. 13th-ranked player in Ontario’s 2028 class and 2nd among catchers, Burton will be a prospect schools need to follow as we approach August 1st and beyond.

2028 C/1B Kieran McAnanama (Fieldhouse Pirates): a 2025 15U Best of the West alum, McAnanama continues to show why he finds himself towards the top of the class. Strong, sturdy frame at 6-foot-1, 198-pounds and just turned 15-years-old a couple months ago. The left-handed hitter creates bat lag and was finding the back of the cage more often than not, generating a peak exit velocity of 92.1mph (81.8mph avg) and peak distance of 322ft (179ft avg). The Pirates catcher had a Hard Hit% of 19%, Sweet Spot% of 47% and Line Drive% of 34%. McAnanama’s Blast Motion data was as follows: average bat speed of 64.9mph (68.7mph max) and average hand speed of 17.8mph (18.9mph max). We’ve had eyes on the young catching prospect for two years now and he’s developed well since our first look in April of 2024. 20th-ranked prospect in Ontario’s 2028 class and 3rd-ranked catcher.
