The 2026 Mississippi high school baseball season is quickly approaching and, as usual, excitement is abound throughout the state. Players and coaches have been working in preparation for the upcoming season and, as is the case each year, there are some very talented players and teams across Mississippi.

Teams across the state have goals and aspirations to finish their seasons at Pearl’s Trustmark Park, in the State Tournament finals at the end of May, but there is plenty of work to be done before that becomes reality. We hope to familiarize our readers with many of the teams across the state as we preview individual teams across Mississippi. We will take you right up to first pitch this season with these team previews, eventually releasing our Preseason Power 25 rankings that’ll carry us into the opening week of action.

2026 OUTLOOK

+ St. Stanislaus enters the 2026 season coming off a strong 23–14 campaign that saw the Rock-A-Chaws advance to the Third Round of the Class 3A playoffs. Under new head coach Irby Dossett, the program returns a talented and experienced core that should once again position them as a contender in District 8-3A.

The lineup brings back several proven run producers, led by shortstop former Future Gamer Tate Murphy (2026, Pearl River CC signee), who hit .357 with six home runs and 29 RBIs while anchoring the infield. Outfielder Wiley Mossy (2026) provides middle-of-the-order power after posting a .327 average with 11 home runs and 39 RBIs, while catcher Ayden Dartez (2027, Pearl River CC commit) was one of the most consistent bats on the roster, hitting .423 with 28 RBIs. Gabe Podlin (2026) adds versatility as a utility piece capable of impacting the game in multiple roles.

On the mound, St. Stanislaus returns a trio of reliable arms with postseason experience. Jackson Orozco (2028) headlines the staff after logging 55.1 innings with a 1.90 ERA and 59 strikeouts, showing advanced feel for his age. Parker Stewart (2027) was equally effective, posting a 1.41 ERA with 29 strikeouts across 34.2 innings, while Warren Gunter (2026) provides veteran stability after striking out 32 hitters in 31.1 innings.

With an experienced lineup, a deep and proven pitching staff, and multiple college-committed players leading the way, St. Stanislaus looks primed to build on last season’s success and make another strong push in District 8-3A during the 2026 season.
