The fall has come to a close and the off season is in full swing. The class of 2027 recruiting window is open and we have seen a ton of players from the state fly off the board, but we are just scratching the surface of the commitments we will see over the next 6 months.

As always, the evaluation process is a fluid and ongoing process with multiple viewings in order to get the best feel for players abilities. It’s important to note that as players continue their development some show marked improvement at a much more rapid pace. That doesn’t indicate that other players got worse or went backwards, it’s just how player development works. As the year unfolds, players make improvements and new prospects pop up on the radar expanding the Preo Baseball rankings universe. In addition to the evaluations of players, our scouts, both those in Georgia and nationally, have also had multiple discussions with each other to review our individual lists and then make adjustments based on what we've each seen.

Today we will take a look at the top 10 and look back the Future Games teams to see where those players have landed. Check back in tomorrow for a full breakdown of the risers and new additions.

Top 10

Caden Borcherding C / 2B / Etowah, GA / 2027

I’ve talked in length about how the top of this class here in Georgia can make a case for #1 and now possibly the most polished profile finds himself atop the rankings for the first time. It’s been nothing but steady progression for Borcherding across all facets of his game. Defensive tools have been lauded since prior to his freshman year before handling multiple upperclass D1 arms the past two years as well as earning the East Coast Pro invite as a rare underclassman this past summer. There’s above-average arm strength that continues to grow with present plus blocking and receiving that screams future 55/60 glove at peak behind the plate. With the stick, Borcherding has shown quality bat-to-ball skills consistently with the occasional sell out for power, but now that power is coming at a much easier rate with nearly 20lb. of good muscle throughout the year and points to a real hit/power combo if the progression continues to stay on this path. Makeup and work ethic has been high from a young age and carries himself as a big leaguer already, it's hard not to look ahead the next few years and not expect huge things from the Etowah backstop.
