Team Preview
Few programs in Louisiana have built a more consistent winning culture than Parkview Baptist, and under Head Coach Phillip Hawke, the Eagles once again look primed to make noise in 2026. With a deep, experienced pitching staff, a dynamic athletic core, and several bona fide star-level returners, Parkview enters the spring with legitimate state-title aspirations.
Top Upperclassmen
-Senior OF Seth DeGeorge
2025 Stats: .315 BA | .447 OBP | 5 2B | 1 HR | 22 RBI | 17 SB
A rare four-year starter, DeGeorge anchors the outfield with advanced range and a true plus glove. He’s the spark that sets the tone early in games—an athlete who impacts the game with both speed and developing power. Offensively, he’s a top-of-the-order presence who can wreck a game on the bases, and his leadership in the clubhouse will be invaluable for a veteran Parkview group chasing a deep postseason run.
-Senior RHP/UTIL Henry Beckers
2025 Stats (Hitting): .387 BA | .504 OBP | 3 2B | 2 3B | 2 HR | 31 RBI
2025 Stats (Pitching): 4–1 | 25 IP | 35 K | 2.24 ERA
No player in the program made a bigger leap in 2025 than Beckers, who burst onto the scene as a legitimate middle-of-the-order run producer. His combination of strength, selectivity, and impact power gives Parkview a true run-driving bat that opponents must game-plan for.
On the mound, Beckers brings a bulldog mentality, attacking hitters with an upper-80s fastball and a three-pitch mix that keeps bats off balance. After adding 15 pounds of muscle this offseason, he’s trending toward a massive senior year as a two-way force.
-Senior RHP/1B Logan Sorrel
2025 Stats: 6–2 | 41.2 IP | 59 K | 1.68 ERA
The ace of one of the state’s deepest pitching staffs, Sorrel returns after a dominant junior campaign and a breakout summer on the national stage. Standing 6’4” with a high-¾ slot, Sorrel attacks hitters with low- to mid-90s velocity, complemented by sharp SL/CH offerings that miss plenty of bats.
Sorrel is also expected to take on a larger offensive role in 2026, with plus raw power and an ability to drive the ball to all fields. He’ll be a true two-way anchor for the Eagles and one of the most electric senior arms in Louisiana this spring.
-Junior OF/LHP Clayton Fontenot
2025 Stats: .525 BA | .558 OBP | 5 2B | 3 3B | 4 HR | 32 RBI | 29 SB
2025 Honors: District MVP, All-State
Fontenot had one of the most explosive sophomore seasons in the state and returns as a centerpiece once again. He brings a rare blend of elite speed and middle-of-the-order pop, and he’s capable of taking over a game in every phase. Defensively, he covers significant ground in the outfield and plays with instincts beyond his years.
On the mound, the left-hander features a mid-80s fastball with a polished CH/BB combo that allows him to neutralize both lefties and righties. Fontenot enters 2026 as a true breakout candidate on the regional and national stage.
-Junior LHP Jake Wooten
2025 Stats: 2–1 | 24.2 IP | 32 K | 1.42 ERA
One of the premier left-handers in Louisiana’s 2027 class, Wooten returns poised for a major junior-year jump. His fastball now reaches 88 mph with late arm-side life, and he pairs it with two swing-and-miss secondaries. His pickoff move remains a real weapon, erasing the running game and shortening innings.
With Sorrel and Beckers, Wooten helps form one of the most complete rotations in Class 3A, giving Parkview multiple arms capable of winning playoff-level matchups.
-Junior INF Gatlyn Grace
A new name set to carry on Parkview’s long line of premium shortstops, Grace brings plus defensive actions, advanced baseball IQ, and improved physicality after a strong offseason. He can hit at the top of the order thanks to his ability to use the entire field and pressure defenses with plus speed. Expect Grace to be a tone-setter—in the field, on the bases, and in the dugout—as he seeks a full breakout in 2026.
Underclassmen to Watch
-Sophomore OF Aaron Taylor
2025 Stats: .379 BA | .534 OBP | 10 2B | 4 3B | 2 HR | 24 RBI
Taylor was one of the most productive freshmen anywhere in the state last season and enters 2026 with the tools to earn immediate playing time on a veteran roster. The athleticism jumps off the page, and his blend of speed, twitch, and extra-base impact should make him a dangerous addition to the lineup—whether in the outfield or as a DH option.
-Freshman C/RHP Brandon “BK” Gawlik
One of the top names in Louisiana’s 2029 class, Gawlik already brings advanced size, strength, and poise for a freshman. His fastball has climbed to 88 mph, and he shows feel on the mound well beyond his years. Offensively, he has the chance to compete for at-bats early, giving Parkview yet another young, high-upside piece. The long-term ceiling is extremely high.
Outlook
The 2026 Eagles return a roster loaded with experience, star power, and frontline pitching—three ingredients that always translate in high school baseball. After last season’s disappointing quarterfinal exit, this group enters the spring with renewed focus and a collective edge.
With Sorrel, Beckers, and Wooten leading a formidable rotation, and an offense powered by Fontenot, DeGeorge, Grace, and a wave of young talent, Parkview will be battle-tested early thanks to a challenging schedule.
If the offense clicks the way it’s capable of, and the team stays healthy, expect the Eagles to once again be firmly in the mix for a deep postseason run—and potentially a return to the state championship conversation.
