 PROSPECT PULSE (BC): PROJECTION PANEL

Cole Dorland RHP / Walnut Grove, BC / 2026

A product of the Langley Blaze arms factory, Dorland turned heads during the 2025 season, starting with a strong performance at the Best of the West that led to a Junior National Team selection. At 6-foot-1, 165-pounds there is plenty of room to add size and strength. We have already seen Dorland up to 91 mph from a high ¾ slot with clear indications of more to come. It’s a low effort delivery with feel for a breaking ball and changeup that tunnel well off the heater. Also eligible as a ‘27, we expect to see Dorland come out of the gate hot in 2026.

Lucas Wheeler C / OF / Earl Marriott Secondary, BC / 2026

Wheeler really grabbed our attention at the Baseball BC selects camp and did nothing but hit throughout BCPBL gameplay and the Canada Summer Games. He sets up deep into his back leg in the box with a controlled forward move towards the baseball. Wheeler is consistently on time and used the entire field, while walking more than he struck out during the BCPBL season. Presently the hit tool carries the profile but the wiry catcher/outfielder showed flashes of raw power throughout the 2025 campaign and is a prime candidate to take a jump in the collegiate ranks.

Austin Blair OF / RHP / St Andrews Regional, BC / 2026

Blair checks in at a lanky 6-foot-4, 195-pounds with long limbs. The former Future Gamer is still classified as a two-way player with upside remaining on both sides. There is present athleticism and twitch in the profile with quality metrics all around. On the mound it’s a deliberate delivery with a clean arm spiral and over the top release. We’ve seen Blair come out of the gate hot at 90-92 mph during starts but often settles down in the 85-88 mph range over the course of an outing. The Canadian National team member has flashed a quality curveball that tunnels well off of the fastball as well as a developing changeup. The command is still developing but there is plenty to like with Blair on the mound as a whole. In the box, Blair displays a simple right-handed stroke with a medium leg lift and short path to the baseball. The ball jumps off the bat with exit velocities reaching 105.4 mph in Toronto this fall. The Eagles product primarily taps into his power to center & left field, however we have seen him shoot the opposite field gap on occasion. Blair is one of the top uncommitted seniors in BC with lots of room left before reaching his ceiling.

Dylan Bird SS / RHP / Lord Tweedsmuir, BC / 2027

Bird is a member of the Abbotsford Cardinals that we saw at several events in 2025, where he continued to tick up with each look. It’s a R/R profile with a proportionate 6-foot-2, 205-pound frame and easy movements in the box and on the mound. Offensively it’s a fluid stroke with some natural loft and a slight leg lift. We have seen outputs reach 90 mph with a max carry of 326 ft. The glove works well on the infield with some arm strength, checking in at 82 mph. Bird works well down the mound with a repeatable, low-effort delivery and quick arm. We most recently saw the fastball live 83-84 with natural arm side run and some carry. The curveball has plenty of depth at 67-69 mph and can be landed for a strike or out of the zone for chase. The changeup has the makings of a quality third pitch with good velocity separation off of the fastball at 73-75. Look for Bird to make a jump heading into his first season in the BCPBL.

Toby Wilding SS / C / John Oliver Secondary, BC / 2027

Wilding is a product of the Delta Blue Jays system that we had the opportunity to see multiple times throughout 2025. Young for his class, Wilding is listed at 5-foot-11, 150-pounds and still growing. It’s a dynamic right-handed swing with an open start and high leg kick. There is a natural tendency to elevate with an ability to use the entire diamond to get on base. Defensively, Wilding displays good footwork with adequate arm strength and more on the way. Wilding took mature AB’s throughout our in-game looks and we expect to see him contribute in the box for Delta this year.
