South Arkansas Fall ID: Quick Hits

Mikel Howell
Prep Baseball Arkansas Asst. Scouting Director

On Saturday, December 13 the Prep Baseball Arkansas Staff hosted our first event in South Arkansas, the South Arkansas Fall ID. This event consisted of 15+ players from around the state and even a couple of out of state players.

All of our eveents offer players the opportunity to update their recruiting resume and showcase their talents in front of our staff. We also use these events as identifiers for future invite-only events, like the Preseason All-State, our summer Top Prospect Games, and the prestigious Prep Baseball Future Games that take place at the tail end of the summer. Today, we are taking a look at a few of the stadnouts from the day with scout notes and video below.

Position Players

Luke Barley C / Hamburg, AR / 2028

Barley is the first of our standouts as he comes in as a smooth, reliable defender behind the dish with good hands and strong receiving skills. Showcases an accurate, quick-release arm that gives him a 2.02-2.18 pop time. At the plate, he features a clean, level swing with consistent barrel awareness giving him a top exit velocity of 95.7 MPH. When it comes to Barley's future, physical projection still remains, with added strength expected to unlock more impact at the next level.

Gabe Bledsoe OF / RHP / Batesville, AR / 2027

Bledsoe was one of the biggest standout performers at the event as he was consistenly turning heads in every aspect of the game. Speed is just the beginning when it comes to him as he clocked in with a 6.84 60 time giving him the fastest time at the event. From the outfield,he takes another top spot in outfield velocity reaching 88 MPH showcasing even more of his athleticism. At the plate he brings a short, yet explosive swing that gives him some impressive power to the gaps logging him another top 3 spot in Exit Velocity reaching 97.2 MPH. Bledsoe looks to be an impact player in the coming season as he continues to elevate his game on a consistent basis. Look for him to have a breakout year in the coming season.

Two-Ways

Jack Goodell RHP / SS / Neosho, MO / 2028

Goodell is the first of our standout two-ways from the events. He showcased his ability to be an all-around athlete with a long-athletic frame, coming in at 6-foot 2-inches and 171-pounds. At the plate he brings an uphill swing which will allow him to drive the ball over the years as he continues to mature and build his strength. As a fielder he showcased his ability to have smooth and quick hands with a strong arm that compliments his ability to be an infielder. Off of the mound is where Goodell shines the most as recorded the highest FB velocity at the event at 87 MPH. His other two pitches include a CB that reaches up to 2444 RPMs and a CH that falls off of the table. Goodell brings a tremendous upside with room for added strength as he continues to mature over the years.

Gage Klober RHP / 3B / Magnolia, AR / 2027

Klober comes in after recently representing in the Natural State Fall Games a couple of months prior. He is a true talent that excels in all aspects of the game. At the plate he showcases a simple swing that generates easy pop, reaching a top exit velocity of 96.2 MPH. In the infield he shows off his strong arm hitting 88 MPH across the diamond locking him in at the top for that category for the event. Off of the mound he brings repeatable mechanics that allow him generate effortless velocity. With room for added strength as he continues to elevate his game, look for Klober to be on the rise throughout his baseball career.

Rowan Selva OF / RHP / Little Rock Catholic, AR / 2028

Selva is a strong, athletic two-way player with a physical build and high motor. Shows above-average raw power at the plate, generated by a violent uphill swing that creates consistent loft and pull-side damage. The ball jumps off of the barrel with plus exit velocity as he lead the event in that category with a top exit velocity of 102.8 MPH. Selva runs well for his size and plays the game with edge and confidence. Defensively, displays solid mechanics and athleticism with the arm strength and body control to impact the game on both sides. With top-level power and the physical tools to standout, look for Selva to me an impact performer in the coming season.

Brett Bell C / RHP / Cedar Creek School, LA / 2027

Bell rounds up our standouts after his performance at the event. He is a solidly built catcher with a durable frame and physical presence behind the plate. Shows quick feet and quick hands, allowing him to receive, block, and transfer efficiently. At the plate, displays a simple, repeatable swing with the strength to drive the ball to the gaps and occasional pull-side power. On the mound he comes in with a solid foundation for a pitch mix with room to build on. The most eye opening is the CH that has low-spin with a ton of movement to play extremely well off of his FB.
