Checking in at No. 4 on our Top 10 Stories of 2025, we back to late July and one of the most important stages in baseball: the Prep Baseball Future Games. Each summer during Future Games week, LakePoint becomes the hotspot of the recruiting world with over 400 college coaches from every level and serving as the proving ground for the top uncommitted talent in the country. Featuring players from across the lower 48 (and Hawaii for the first time this year), the Future Games offer a one-of-a-kind opportunity for prospects to represent their state or region while competing against the best their class has to offer.
Once again, the Commonwealth was well represented, and Team Kentucky arrived with a roster full of athletes ready to test themselves on the national stage. The impact showed almost immediately. As August 1st rolled around as the first day college coaches were permitted to initiate direct contact with the 2027 class, several Team Kentucky players found their phones lighting up. Fast forward a few months, and nine members of the roster have already secured college commitments, with several others continuing to navigate a strong recruiting market built off their performance at LakePoint.
Those committed prospects include:
- RHP Gray Davis – Clemson
- RHP Grant Slater – Alabama
- OF Keith Mitchell – Memphis
- LHP Hudson Meredith – Virginia
- OF Max Phillips – Wake Forest
- SS Sam Pearson – Virginia Tech
- RHP Jakob Reed – Air Force
- RHP Gavin Kramer – Wabash Valley JC
- LHP Caleb Arrasmith – Morehead State
Future Games week always brings energy from the opening workout through the final out of gameplay, and Team Kentucky embraced it from the start. The opening showcase set a strong tone, with several prospects drawing immediate attention during batting practice and defensive evaluations. Speed, athleticism, and strength were on full display, and the buzz only grew as competition approached.

That excitement carried directly into Game 1. Kentucky wasted no time and opened the contest against Team Kansas with a red-hot first inning. Uncommitted 1B Ari Wells set the tone early, spinning a clean 1-2-3 inning before helping his own cause in a big way, launching a towering two-run homer deep out to right field.

Uncommitted SS Drew Squires also cleared the bases with a 3 RBI double to give Team KY a commanding early lead. Uncommitted OF AJ Hogart added a pair of doubles, while uncommitted 3B Brennan Walters chipped in another extra-base hit as Kentucky racked up nine hits on the day. On the mound, a deep pitching staff kept the pressure on in a high scoring matchup. Uncommitted RHP Ross Milburn allowed just 1 R on 3 H over a pair of quality innings.

LHP Caleb Arrasmith punched out four hitters across two innings of work, and uncommitted RHP Jasper Kemp handled the 7th and 8th innings to wrap up a strong opening pitching lineup from the Commonwealth.
Game 2 brought a highly anticipated matchup with Team Michigan. Kentucky struck first again, this time with uncommitted C Kai Anderson driving in a run on a backside double in the top of the first. The pitching matchup was electric from the jump, highlighted by RHP Gray Davis, who dominated his two-inning start. The 6’1” 195 lb righty struck out three while facing the minimum six batters, partially thanks to uncommitted C Maximus Brunkel cutting down a runner at second to end the first inning. The mound dominance continued with LHP Hudson Meredith and RHP Grant Slater combining for multiple scoreless innings and six strikeouts.

Trailing late in a tight contest, Team Kentucky showed grit when it was certainly needed, manufacturing runs with a trio of walks before OF Keith Mitchell delivered a clutch RBI single to score uncommitted 3B Camden Page and swing the momentum. After Michigan briefly reclaimed the lead, Kentucky responded once again in T8. Uncommitted C Kai Anderson opened the inning with another double, uncommitted SS Kyler Claunch delivered a game-tying RBI triple to the opposite field, and SS Sam Pearson used his speed to plate the go-ahead run on an infield single. Uncommitted RHP Hayden Henry sealed the deal with a clean bottom of the 8th, locking down one of the most thrilling wins of the event.

On the final day, Team Kentucky continued to showcase depth on the mound as five arms were featured, including a pair of two ways in OF Keith Mitchell and uncommitted C Griffin Kingsolver. RHP Jakob Reed impressed in his start with two strong innings that included a stretch of three consecutive strikeouts looking. Uncommitted RHP Eddie Davis followed with two dominant scoreless innings and three Ks of his own, while RHP Gavin Kramer added a key strikeout to keep Kentucky within striking distance late in the game.

Offensively, uncommitted OF Jaxson Jett sparked a rally in B4 with an RBI single before being driven in by uncommitted SS Drew Squires once again. In the next inning, Spencer County teammates manufactured another run as uncommitted C Griffin Kingsolver reached base on a walk before uncommitted 3B Brennan Walters stepped up and delivered another double. After an Ohio rally, uncommitted OF AJ Hogart continued a phenomenal week with a solo bomb to grab the momentum right back.

This cut the deficit to one, opening the door for uncommitted C Conner Davis to drive in the game tying run in the next inning before ultimately being scored on a fielders’ choice to give KY a 6-5 lead late. A late Ohio rally gave an unfortunate end to a classic back and forth matchup with a 7-6 final score.
From top to bottom, Team Kentucky delivered one of its strongest Future Games performances in recent memory. The results speak for themselves, with nine commitments already secured and several more prospects trending sharply upward heading into their junior seasons. As this talented 2027 group continues to develop, the Future Games once again proved to be a launching point for these uber talented prospects!
