Best of the Fall 2026: On-Plane Efficiency Leaders
As part of our Best of the Fall 2026 series, today we highlight hitters who stood out in On-Plane Efficiency (OPE%) during batting practice at fall events. This metric, tracked by BLAST Motion, measures how consistently a hitter keeps the bat barrel on the same plane as the pitch through the swing. Paired with a positive attack angle, high OPE allows for longer barrel-to-ball contact, improving swing efficiency, barrel control, and quality of contact.
Why It Matters:
High OPE indicates an efficient swing that maximizes contact potential and consistency. Players with strong OPE% often have better control of the bat through the hitting zone, which translates to more line drives, solid contact, and overall offensive production.
Benchmarks:
- Elite: 80%+ of the swing on plane
- Very Good: 70–79%
- Needs Improvement: Below 60%
The leaderboards today feature both overall leaders and class-by-class leaders, showcasing the hitters who consistently kept their barrel on plane throughout fall batting practice sessions. These numbers highlight hitters with advanced swing mechanics and repeatable contact, marking them as players to follow heading into the spring season.
