Best of the Fall 2026: Breaking Ball Movement Leaders
As part of our Best of the Fall 2026 series, today we shift the focus to the mound, highlighting pitchers whose breaking balls stood out for movement during fall events. Using TrackMan data captured in bullpens and live game play at Prep Baseball NC events, this leaderboard showcases arms that created distinct movement profiles capable of missing bats and disrupting timing.
The analytics featured here focus on horizontal movement and vertical movement, two key indicators of a breaking ball’s shape and effectiveness. Horizontal movement illustrates how much the pitch sweeps across the zone, while vertical movement measures depth and downward action. Together, these metrics help identify pitchers with sharp, late-breaking offerings that project to play at higher levels.
The leaderboards include both overall leaders and class-by-class standouts, highlighting pitchers who demonstrated advanced feel for spin and shape throughout the fall. These arms enter the spring season as names to know, backed by verified TrackMan data and performance against quality competition.
